... Mason ...

"Why doesn't he get the hint?" I ask Isaac quietly.

"I don't know. But I can definitely see why Lizzy was so upset when he broke up with her. And then that letter." He shakes his head.

"What did the letter say?" Isaac pulls out a folded piece of paper out of his pocket and hands it to me.

Dear Bloodsucking Vampire,

Please stop sending me letters. I do not accept your thanks, for I know you have no feelings. My mother was right about you. You are a monster. I have already gotten over you.

Ps: the next time I see that cat, I'm going to kill him.

With disgust, Daniel.

Wow. That's harsh. I fold it back up and give it to Isaac. He takes it without looking at me.

"He honestly thinks that she is going to come back to him after this note?"

"You should have seen her when I went to pick her up at the park. She couldn't even stand because she lost so much blood from crying." He shakes his head.

"Was she like this at the changing?"

"What? Crying?"

"Well, really upset in general."

"Before she died she specifically asked us not to kill her like we did with Blaise. When she dug herself up, I think she was too angry to be upset." He gives a small laugh. "She didn't like how we buried her, even though she told us to."

"I'd be angry too."

"Yeah, but she calmed down a bit when she drank some blood." He shrugs and we sit in silence.

My heart aches to see Lizzy in this much pain, even though I barely know her. She often came to our room to pick up Daniel for a date, or to watch a movie, but other than that small relationship, we don't know each other. She was always nice to me though, and asked me how I was and all that.

You better be nice to her. Blaise tells me and I look at him in surprise. I know you like her more than as a friend. She likes you to, you know.

"Really?"

"What?" Isaac looks at me.

"Nothin', just talking to Blaise." We've got to learn how to talk back in his mind and avoid awkward conversations like this.

I think so. You've always been nice to her, even when Daniel and she fought, you always chose her side. I like you. Wow. Big compliment there.

Before I can respond, Ms. Keefe walks in. "How's she doing?"

"She woke up a little while ago. She only yelled at Daniel to get out. No prophecy stuff." Isaac assures her.

"Good. Call me when she wakes up again. She's going to be deciding Tracy and Brad's punishments." She nods. "Anyway, her parents are going to be here soon. They're driving in from Arizona." I feel Isaac stiffen next to me. Ms. Keefe leaves just as quickly as she came.

"What's wrong with her parents?" I ask Isaac.
"They've never really been... supportive of her. They never wanted her to be a Huntress, and they despise Vampires. They also hate cats. I'm sorry Blaise." At this, Blaise puts his ears flat on his head.

I'm different from other cats. Most cats aren't protective of their owners, but I am. If they don't like me, that's their own problem. He scoffs and I have to agree with him.
