... Mason ...
Bzz! My phone buzzes and I groggily reach over for it. I turn it on, the brightness blinding me for a moment. It's from Isaac.
Get down here now!
Oh, no. That's never good. I pick up some dirty clothes off the floor and start dressing, careful not to wake up Daniel. I go to the bathroom and brush my teeth faster than I ever have before.
When I creep back into our room, Daniel is up and reading the text on my phone. I snatch it away from him. "What are you doing?"
"What's going on?" He answers the question with a question, but he didn't really answer it.
"I don't know." I put my phone in my pocket and Daniel starts dressing. "What are you doing?"
"Going to go see what's going on, duh."
"They didn't invite you." I tell him, incredulous.
If you come in that room, I won't hold myself back. Blaise's cold voice enters our minds. I look around, and I find him sitting on the outside of the window, his blue eyes narrowed into slits. Man, that cat is creepy.
"You better butt out, or else I may have a new hat." Daniel snarls.
I'll let you think that, but I think we both know who'd win in that fight. Blaise growls softly.
"Dude, the cat is right. You shouldn't go in that room. Not only will you have a cat attacking you, you'll probably have an angry Vampire as well." I warn him and leave before he can say another word.
I run to Lizzy's hospital room and find everyone there. Blaise, Isaac and Ms. Keefe. And a small red fox with an oxygen mask and an IV on. It's beautiful, but it's not Lizzy.
"Where's...?" I point to the small fox.
"That is Lizzy. She's a shifter apparently." Isaac informs me. I guess that makes sense. Blaise is lying next to the fox without a look of concern on his face, so he apparently trusts it.
"That's pretty cool." I admit.
"Yeah, but now she's unconscious. Again." Isaac sighs.
"She should wake up today. Hopefully." Ms. Keefe says optimistically.
She's not in as much pain, so she should wake up soon. Blaise adds.
I go over and sit next to Isaac in one of the chairs, and watch the fox's chest rise and fall rhythmically. "She's really small, you know, for a red fox." I tell him and he nods.
"Well, she's always been the shortest one in our class. She only weighs about a hundred and ten pounds or so. In this form though, she weighs about ten." He shrugs.
"Well I have to go deal with a dress code violator. I'll be back soon." Ms. Keefe leaves.
Blaise is concentrating on the sheets in front of him, his eyes unfocusing. I think she's waking up.
