THIS CHAPTER IS DEDICATED TO FALLINGHARD4U FOR BEING MY FIRST READER!!!!
................................................................I fall to my knees and start sobbing. Everything is gone. Everything I have ever known has vanished. Unimaginable pain radiates from my heart as all of the deaths finally dawn on me. No more of Ms. Keefe's affectionate lectures. No more of Mr. Browns 'be more specific's. No more of Blaise's chastising. No more of Daniel's anger. No more of Isaac's understanding. Everything has vanished.
"Why?!" I scream at the smoke filled sky. I lean over and rest my head on the ground and let my tears run down my face. How can everyone I love be dead? Why would they do this to me?
A howl fills the air as Saraphine mourns with me. It's long and soulful, as if it could reach the heavens and bring down those who've passed.
"Elizabeth, I'm so sorry." Mom comes and sits down next to me and runs her hand down my back.
"This is all your fault!" I snap and take my head off the ground. "If you didn't come and take me, I could have saved Isaac! Then you came back after I told you not to and I chose you over Blaise!" I scream and she jumps to her feet. Fear emanates from her, but I don't regret it. She should feel the pain I'm feeling.
I put my forehead back on the ground and let the darkness swallow me. The warm clouds comfort me as I sob into the earth. I feel all the dead souls lingering in the air and I count them. One hundred thirty seven. Two-thirds of the school.
"Oh my God." A voice whispers as footsteps approach me. A voice I don't want to hear. "Lizzy, I'm so sorry..."
"Mason you spied on me!" I leap to my feet and glare Mason in the eye. He shirks back.
"If I knew he was going to do this, I wouldn't have!"
"Remember the prophecy? Maybe you should've paid more attention to it!" I spit out. "Now everyone I love is gone!" I fall back on my knees.
"I swear-"
"Get out of here before I kill you!" I shriek at him and he runs over to Emilee, who looks as if she's about to skin him as well. I start uncontrollably sobbing and screaming again at the sky as I mourn all the deaths.
I eventually must have fallen asleep because I wake up to someone cocking a gun. I open my eyes and stare at a police officer. The barrel of the gun is resting on my forehead. "If you move, I will pull the trigger." He warns.
"Where's Emilee?" I whimper.
"What does she look like?" He asks.
"She's short and young with wavy brown hair and green eyes." My lower lip trembles as he looks around.
"She's in one of the ambulances with two older people."
"So she's safe?"
"Yes, she's fortunate to be alive and so are you. Now please tell me what happened here." He takes the gun off my forehead and I sit up onto my knees. "And why you're still alive with that rod sticking out of your stomach."
There are only two things I know for sure: Aiden is dead, and everything is about to change.
