"She stays because the fear of leaving is greater then the fear of staying. She will leave when the fear of staying is greater then the fear of leaving."

Nina woke up and opened her eyes but it hurt to open them, hell she could only open the one the other was swole shut. She didn't remember what happened until she looked around seeing she was laying on the floor of the main entrance still. Looking around the sun was up and the house was silent. She slowly stands looking out the window to see her fathers car gone. She looks at where he had choked her and sees blood on the wall. She walks to the bathroom as fast as she can muster before looking in the mirror and gasping at the sight she saw. Both her eyes were a nasty purple and barely open. She had a solid hand print around her neck where he had squeezed so tight it left a mark of his hand.

Nina's eyes began to burn but not from the pain but from the fact he had left her barely breathing. She touched the hand print before more sobs racked through her body. As she goes to the medicine cabinet to take some pain meds she hears a loud knock at the door. She is confused who it could possibly be and walks to the closest window peeping out before a new shaky breathe escapes her. Standing on her porch is none other then Johnny Cade and Two Bit Mathews. Nina walks over to the door as another round of loud banging comes from the other side. She opens it a crack making sure none of her face was visible.

"Why didn't ya tell me you were a soc?" Two bit asks first thing not noticing the fact she kept her face hidden. He thought maybe she was embarrassed or something that he knew the truth now. "Uh- sorry. I didn't know about the south side and north side difference until Johnny walked me home." Her voice was very raspy she sounded like she was sick. "Are ya sick is that why ya didn't come to school?" Two bit asks he skipped after Johnny had told him the night before Nina wouldn't be there.

"Was it Darrys cookin?" He laughed but Nina didn't even chuckle as he looked to Johnny with a big smile. He then looked to the door and tried peeking his head in. "You feelin alright?" Johnny asks her as she says a simple no. "Your starting to scare me Nina..... come out." Two bit says suddenly getting a bad feeling as she continued to hide her face from him. She knew he wouldn't leave her alone until she did, she let out a sigh as she realized Johnny too would know her secret. She opened the door wider keeping her eyes to the ground as both boys gasped at the sight of her. "It- it looks worse then it is." Nina says still raspy as the boys look like they'd seen a ghost.

"Did your dad do that?" Johnny asks shyly realizing she was going through a similar situation as him. Nina nods still not meeting their eyes scared what she'd see. She opens the door for them to come in and they look around mesmerized by how clean it was. It looked closer to a museum then a house, it didn't feel homey what's so ever. Nina grabbed a washcloth and began cleaning her blood off the wall as the boys looked around.

"Nina...... you need to stay at the Curtis house. Or with me I'm sure my mom wouldn't-" two bit began saying but Nina shook her head. "I can't leave him. He's all I got- besides if I left? He'd probably kill me." Nina admits as she drinks some water to try and clear her throat..... it didn't work. "Man this house is...... spotless." Johnny says walking around mesmerized by the giant house. It held nothing of Nina's presence in it.
