Ever since the day Nina was admitted to the hospital the gang would always come whenever they could. Johnny would stay there all day since he didn't have school or anywhere to be. After school Two-Bit would drive himself and Ponyboy there and they'd hangout with Johnny. Then Steve and Soda would come after work, it still felt slightly awkward for Steve due to his last conversation with her.
Darry would come last after work, and despite wanting to be there for hours like the others he'd only be there 30 minutes before making his brothers leave.
Yeah he cared a lot for Nina but he didn't want Ponyboys school work falling behind. He also didn't want Soda to start getting depressed and distracted in thought like he did when their parents died. He just wanted to keep his brothers safe.
One day in particular all the guys were there like usual.... All but Dallas Winston.
Apparently the night Nina was admitted he left the hospital and had lashed out and jumped Bob Sheldon. The guys all agreed it was the only thing he would do to show he cared probably but Darry was fed up with it.
Dally hasn't visited Nina since the day she'd gotten there.
The guys hadn't seen him either but they knew he wasn't in the cooler. They'd asked Buck who admitted he just stayed in his room a lot or he would be at work.
Darry being so fed up left the hospital room going to a phone and called Bucks. A party could be heard in the background and buck screaming a drunken "WHAT!" into the phone.
"Where's Dallas? Put him on." Darry sighs glancing over his shoulder repeatedly in case Nina magically woke up.
She didn't.
Buck could be heard cussing before setting the phone down, it was a couple minutes later when the phone was picked up again.
"Hello?" Dally says with annoyance knowing exactly who it was already. Only one person called for him and it was always Darry. It'd be to check on him if Darry hadn't heard from Dallas in awhile or to scold him. Nothing fight worthy simply telling Dally to come back around and stop the bickering.
But Dallas knew this would be about something else..... someone else.
"Have you visited her?" Darry says getting right to the point and Dally sighs. "Why the hell would I do that man?" He acts unbothered and that makes Darry narrow his eyes and scoff.
