Dallas Winston went MIA for a few weeks after that day leaving Nina both relieved and weirdly sad that he wasn't around. She hated his cruel words and sneer but she missed the boy who made her laugh and helped her to be reckless.
Without him around Nina went to school again with Two-bit still fooling around in their first period teacher on how they cheated on tests.
Bob constantly was glaring at her after what happened to his car, he assumed the girl he saw with Dallas that night was Nina. She was the only girl the boy was known to be hanging out with recently. He also had his car fixed already but the interior was a new entire thing making Nina smile to herself remembering the night her Dallas messed with the Sheldon's. Which made her think of the kiss, and then the runaway house.
It was like Nina could think of anything and somehow it would bring her back to the topic of Dallas Winston.
Cherry Valance was also caught staring at Nina almost as if she were disappointed in the girl. Nina must not have met an expectation the girl wanted her to.
Nina would still come to the Curtis house everyday after school wondering if the troublesome boy would just saunter in like nothing. But he didn't.
After not seeing Dallas that entire week she finally got the nerves to ask Two-But if Dally was mad at her or something. But two bit shrugged knowing with Dally it was a possibility but there were other ones too. "He's probably just locked up in the cooler again. Usually happens just like this one second he's here for a month and the next he's gone for weeks or months dependin on what he's done." Two bit says calmly while drinking a beer.
Nina felt her mouth dry up hearing he could be gone for months. "Stupid to do that for fun." Nina mumbles looking away Two-bit side eyes her.
He then wore a teasing smile but before he could comment on it Nina gave him a look that showed she wasn't in the mood for teasing.
The only other thing that first week still had the was common were Nina's beatings. The one night her father even dragged her down the steps by her hair making her back hit each step and scrapping her scars on the way down. He said he was punishing her for being with a boy still making Nina weary how long he'd hold that against her. It was seemingly the only bad thing she had ever done, the only time she had disobeyed him.
Then came week two without any sign of Dallas happened and Nina began to feel herself growing sadder despite Ponyboy and Two-bit trying to cheer her up. Nina knew Dallas had to be avoiding her because she didn't see Johnny as much either meaning they were probably hanging out together.
