After lunch Nina tried her best to act like a normal shy teen around two bit. He didn't seem to suspect anything and neither did his buddy Ponyboy from lunch. Nina just avoided talking about herself making sure to either remain silent or just take his attention off of her. She figured out his love for Mickey Mouse and would have him explain episodes to her that he really enjoyed to keep him busy.
The rest of the day went on smoothly until it came down to gym class. They gave Nina a uniform she was supposed to wear with a simple grey t shirt and short black shorts. Nina refused as the gym coach handed them to her and was nearly gonna get a phone call home when she grudgingly took the clothes. As she was changing she made sure to hide her back from the other girls where all the scars were. It didn't help with the revealing clothes on her legs and arms looked pretty bruised up.
As Nina walked out of the locker room two bit came bounding over with a smile that soon fell as his eyes drifted to her legs and arms that had bruises covering every inch. If you looked close enough they resembled figure tips.
The gym coach didn't even bat an eyelash used to seeing greaser kids come in with marks daily. The other kids however snickered of gaped at her skin making her wrap her arms tightly around herself. "Who did that to ya?" Two bit asked eyes never leaving the bruises on her legs. Nina came up with an easy lie to solve it all yet hoped he wouldn't see through it. "Just got into a fight with some bullies back home..... nothing too bad." She says lowly as he looks at her lip that he had noticed was busted he just hoped her story was true.
"Damn didn't know you fought. Don't seem the type." He teases making her shake her head with a small forced smile. "Only when I needed to." She lied before looking to the coach who paired everyone up to do a fitness test...... and on Nina's first day? She got paired up with a prissy girl since it had to be boys with boys and girls with girls. The girls name was Cherry Valance and she had bright red hair. Nina couldn't help but wonder if it was even her real name or not.
"Hey, I'm Cherry your the new girl Nina right?" She asked with a small smile as if being seen smiling at the girl would ruin her reputation. It would. "Uh yeah...... and your Cherry..... like the fruit." Nina mumbled awkwardly and unsure what to say as Cherry nodded stiffly seeming like she too didn't want to be in this situation.
"Too bad they split you up from Keith huh?" Cherry asked as she held Nina's feet as she did sit ups that Cherry counted. When Nina was told to stop after a minute she furrowed her eyebrows at the most popular girl in school. "Keith?" Nina asked but Cherry just chuckled shaking her head. "Sorry I forget he goes by some weird nickname. One bite or somethin." Cherry says her accent coming through a little as Nina bites her tongue to stop herself from snapping at the mean popular girl. "It's two bit." She says a bit short as Cherry notices and looks apologetic. Nina couldn't tell if it was genuine or not.
