Nina was in the hospital recovering for weeks, the hospital bill piling on and on making her more and more weary. She didn't have the finances for an hours stay let alone weeks. But having surgery, broken ribs and a broken wrist and leg. At least she could remove her casts after all those weeks but her ribs still ached.
The boys came everyday and kept her company, the nurses would drool over them.
Steve also seemed to slowly be moving on from the weird awkwardness between them. According to Two Bit he was already talking to a new girl, Nina was perfectly fine with it.
"Out of here tomorrow Nina are you excited?" Two bit announces loudly making the girl grimace at his loud tone. "Yup I'm ready to get out of here and actually get some fresh air from outside. I feel like I'm going to smell as sterile as this hospital when I finally get out." Nina rambles bitterly as Two bit laughs and nods.
"Heard through a lil birdie that your stayin with Dally." Two bit teases since Johnny would be arriving with the rest of the gang later. It was just the two best friends allowing them to speak of more serious topics.
Nina slowly looks to him trying to look unaffected by those words but her face was still a light pink. "What little birdie?" She asks and he smirks at how hooked she was to know.
"Dally let Darry know and like I said he let it slip to a lil birdie." Two bit teases but Nina knew instantly who told him from that information alone. "It was Ponyboy wasn't it?" She says with a knowing smile as Two bit looks surprised how she guessed it right.
"No." He says in a slow voice making it more obvious so Nina just rolls her eyes at him.
"Well it's not a big deal." Nina insists and that's when two bit just started hollering with laughter. It quite literally brought tears to his eyes and his face was beat red. He was out of breath as Nina just stared at him dumbfounded.
"NOT A- HA NOT A BIG DEAL!" He yells pointing at her Nina crossing her uncasted arms with a pout and furrowed brows.
"What's so funny?" She asks calmly but that makes him laugh more seeing how serious she was about it. Because in everyone's eyes they saw what it meant even if the pair didn't.
"Nothin- NOTHIN!" He says still laughing trying to calm down as Nina looked slightly offended since she didn't see what was so amusing. Her and Dallas were friends nothing more, so she didn't see what context everyone else was seeing.
"Dallas Winston- he's our buddy don't get me wrong but.... He's never nice and for him to offer for you to live with him? He must like ya or somthin." Two bit snickers but explains making Nina go wide eyed and shake her head.
