"Look, there's no way that Camilo likes me, We just met. Besides, I should get back home" I said standing up and walking to the door. "Believe what you want to, but he has never had a conversation with a girl that wasn't a town's person asking for help" she said, getting up and walking towards the door to see me out of the room. I walked out of the room, looking back to see Isabela smirking as she closed her door, leaving me staring at the glowing door with a portrait-like glowing outline of Isabela staring at me.

I walked down the stairs and out of the house without disturbing anyone, then walked out the door and back onto the path to the town. "Hey, hey!" I heard a yell from behind me. A hand on my shoulder caused me to turn around. "Camilo, hey, how are you?" I asked, shocked to see him. "I'm good, would you like to hang out, I'm free this evening" he said, a slight glint of hope in his eyes. "Sure, my parents want me to spend more time out of the house anyway, why not".

"Do you want to get some arepas from town? There's a really nice vendor that makes ones that rival my tía Julietta's" he said, lightly grabbing my wrist to lead me in the direction. Despite only knowing him personally for a few hours, and only having less than half an hour's worth of conversation, a light blush rushed to my cheeks at the touch.

Within a few minutes the two of us had arrived at the town, and at a small vendor that sold many different types of arepas. Despite my insistence that I could pay for my own, Camilo kept insisting that it was his treat, and that I shouldn't worry about it. We sat down on a bench a little bit away to eat. Around us were trees and bushes and flowers surrounding a river, the sound of the rushing water calming to listen to while the two of us ate.

"So, what did Isabela want you to do with her dress?" Camilo asked in between bites of his arepa. "She wanted me to make her dress shorter because she kept tripping over the fabric. I think I accidentally overestimated how much fabric I'd need. Too much seam allowance, maybe messed up the length and didn't notice until now" I said, finishing the arepa and staring at the passing water. "So, not that big of a deal right? Must not have been that hard to fix" he said, also finishing his arepa. "Well, it was a bit of a big deal, I wouldn't want her to fall down some stairs and fall. But it wasn't that hard to fix though, just some pinning and sewing and the job's done" I said while looking over at him. He was staring at me, eyes focused and nodding along to what I was saying. It was nice to know that he was paying attention to what I was saying instead of ignoring everything I was saying.

"Wish I could be that talented, all I can do is change my appearance" he said, staring at the water, golden light painting his face as the sun was setting, making his green eyes shine as he was looking off into the distance.

"Hey, don't think like that, you are talented in so many ways, but the only thing you ever think of when you think about yourself is your gift. It doesn't define who you are and it isn't all you're going to be. You're kind and helpful. You're amazing with people, charismatic, you have a good sense of humour. You're tender and sweet. You're brave and protective over those you love. You have so much potential in life and I can see you doing so many things in life if you put your mind to it, gift or no gift" I said, slightly frustrated at how he put himself down and only thought of himself as his gift.

His eyes stared at me, shocked at the slight outburst and seemed to be lost in thought. Out of the blue, he grabbed me by my shoulders and pulled me into him, hugging me tightly and not letting me go, muttering 'thank you' over and over again. I returned the hug quickly, and let him hug me for as long as he needed. From what he said before I could tell he was at least a little bit insecure, and something like this would hopefully help him, even if only a little.

After a while, he pulled away, still staring at me and muttering more thank you's. "Please stop thanking me, there's no reason why you should be. I thought you already knew all of that but I guess not. You're amazing Camilo, don't let anyone tell you otherwise" I said, making sure he heard every word. "You sure seem to pay a lot of attention to me huh" he chuckled, making me laugh along.

"Well it's hard not to. You do make a big impact on our community, I look up to you".

"You do?"

"Of course I do. Many people do".

"Thank you".

"Stop saying that".
