The walk to the river was in an uncomfortable silence, though it wasn't really either of our faults. My mind was clouded by the lies and the secrets my parents kept from me, and Camilo made sure not to interrupt and let me think and open up at my own pace. We got to the river and I was pulled down into Camilo's lap so that he could hold me tight as I talked to him.
"Do you think you're ready to talk about what happened between you and your parents?" he asked gently, making me seem as though I was a fragile china doll who would break if his words were too harsh. "...I don't know what's going on" I confessed, and was met with Camilo pulling me closer into his chest. "They're hiding something from me, not telling me things. Apparently I had the nightmare I'm having now when I was younger, but that doesn't make sense. I guess seeing the house cracking and breaking would make sense seeing as we'd already had the thought of it the night before, but having it when I was younger wouldn't make any sense" I spilled, tears beginning to form at the corners of my eyes as I thought of my parents lies.
"Did anything else happen. If I know everything then I can help you figure things out, besides, two heads are better than one" he said cheerfully, but I knew that he was only saying it like that so that I would cheer up a bit. "Maria said something earlier-". "Ugh again, this is getting ridiculous. Look, I'll talk to her, get her to leave you alone" he groaned, but I was quick to change his opinion. "No, she said something about me being a bad luck charm, and when I brought it up with my parents it seemed to strike a nerve. I think she knows something we don't, so maybe we can get something out of her" I said, gears turning in my head as I spouted information.
"That does make some sense, but how would we ever get her to talk to you, she seems to hate you" he asked, then a disappointed look formed in his eyes when he realised what we were going to have to do. "I'm going to have to talk to her, aren't I?" He asked, and my face was all he needed to see to know that I was sorry. "Maybe we can talk to Dolores first, she might've heard something we haven't" he piped up, and I nodded in agreement. Hardly anyone could hide something from Dolores, and she even started to learn how to tell what someone was writing so that wasn't even a way out. "Let's go then!"
When we got to La Casa Madrigal it wasn't how it used to be. Mostly everyone was in the house doing what they wanted to be doing. Mirabel and Isabela were in the corner sewing a new bright blue dress for Isabela, most likely because she realised how the splashes of colour would come out of the fabric easily, so having blue fabric would be better. They are laughing and having fun together, a big difference to how the two of them were a few weeks ago. Luisa was relaxing while talking to Antonio, probably talking about his animals.
Camilo held my hand and pulled me towards Dolores' door, knocking on it gently. The two of us stood there until we heard a whisper of 'come in' said from Dolores. We walked in quickly, and Camilo got straight to the point as we knew Dolores probably heard what we were talking about before. "Can you tell us anything about what that Maria girl knows about Y/n?" He asked, Dolores turning around to face us. "I don't know much, but what I do know might shock you, so I'd suggest you sit down".
