Part ⅖

It took much longer than she would have liked to reach the village with the pixie problem. But after three hours in a tiny cart with the more annoying member of her guild, Kosai had arrived at her request. The people of this village looked tired, their faces long and tired. No doubt the pixies and their frustrating little tricks had gotten to them by now. Kosai walked to the center of the village, not caring if Bakugou was following her or not.

He could do whatever he wanted, but she was going to find who sent out the request and see what exactly they wanted her to do for their request. Plus, it also meant Kosai would avoid doing something the others might not want her to do. This way, she's be doing her job and would be doing it right.

An older man smiled gently as she paused before him. He was dressed in attire that looked more embroidered than the rest of the village, so he must be the head of this place. He held out his frail and winkled hand and Kosai shook it with a smile on her face. She watched as the man's eyes shifted behind her and she assumed Bakugou had indeed been following her.

"Thank you both for coming." The older man told them and motioned around. "As you can probably tell... we've been having a growing problem with a swarm of pixies the last few weeks."

"Weeks?" Kosai blinked and the older man nodded his head embarrassingly.

"We assumed they were a migrating pack... but it looks like they are just in the mood to cause problems and play pranks. We have several villagers seeing our local mage for treatment after getting struck by several pixie charms."

"So the little bitches are the kind to settle somewhere not for food, but for entertainment, huh?" Bakugou scoffed. "Damn pests..."

"We're desperate now because of these pixies." The man continued on. "So, please... if you can get rid of them or even relocate them- we'd all be very grateful for you two."

"I'll for sure do all I can, sir." Kosai smiled and gave the man a wink. "By the end of the day... I promise this place will be pixie-free!"

"End of the day?" Bakugou shook his head. "It'll only take me till sunset."

"Isn't that the end of the day?"

"I don't go to fucking sleep at sunset!! So it ain't the end of the day!!"

The pair of teens looked at one another with deep glares and the village head seemed to read that there was clearly something between these two. He gently coughed and caught the attention of the pair once more.

"I shall provide you both with some space, supplies, and meals and drinks should you need it." He said and then motioned to a few buildings. "If you could please start with clearing the pixies out of the homes and other buildings, we'd be most grateful, as many of us would like to return to a full night's sleep in a home that is pixie-free."

Kosai and Bakugou nodded, each looking to take off in a different direction to start. It appeared their plan was to divide and conquer. Or at least that is what it looked like to the villagers who would see them. In reality, Bakugou and Kosai were doing their best to avoid one another. Neither wanted to work with the other, so they each could do half of the village and then get paid and leave and never have to work together with each other again.

This looked to have worked for about an hour, but then a certain pixie that was giving them both trouble started to bounce between them until both followed it out, ready to capture it as they had with so many of its friends. The winged pest had thrown dirt at Kosai, nearly getting it in her eyes, and had pulled several strands of hair out of Bakugou's head.

As the pixie landed on a fence between two homes, Bakugou and Kosai saw one another and each glared before pointing to the pixie.

"Oi! This brat if fucking mine!!" Bakugou yelled out.

"What?!" Kosai yelled back. "She's been bothering me way more!!"

"Huh?!" Bakugou snarled and then stomped forward and towards the pixie. "No fucking way! Go find another one to capture!"

Kosai was now moving as well and shoved Bakugou's hand away before he could capture the pixie in the enchanted cage so many of its friends were currently in. Bakugou blinked and then roughly placed the cage on the ground before he hopped over the low fence and approached Kosai. He shoved her back and Kosai's gaze fell further into irritation. She too put her cage down and approached the boy with a nasty look of her own. The pair started to argue, as usual.

"Would you go away!" Kosai yelled. "There are so many other pixies! Go and take care of those ones!"

"No! I saw this one first!" Bakugou screamed back.

"Ugh! Why are you so damn annoying?!"

"Me?!" Bakugou inhaled sharply. "You are the fucking brat who always gets in my bad way!!"

It went back and forth again as it always did. Only this time, there was no friend, adult, or guildmember to put a stop to their arguing. The distraction and focus on fighting the other was about to come back and bite them both in the ass when they heard the sounds of giggling coming from above them.

Kosai looked up above her and Bakugou and her eyes widened. She inhaled sharply as her gray eyes took in the pixie fluttering above them. Oh no.

"The fuck are you looking at?!" Bakugou yelled and looked up as well. "Oh shit-"

He couldn't even finish his sentence before he and Kosai were both hit by some sort of spell by this pixie. It covered them both and blocked their vision. They had no idea what had just happened, but it would be clear in a moment.

Each just hoped it wouldn't risk their payment and if it did, that they could blame the other for this outcome.
