Destined Fate

A small promise

Moments later, it's nearly evening.

"mom, dad.. I want to go home" Mayu yawned.

Tadashi and Mizuki stopped from their tracks and looked at Mayu, eyes half closed.

"Mayu..." Mizuki muttered.

Mayu soon realized her mistake and her eyes shot open

"oh! S-sorry, mom!- um! I mean... Sis!!" Mayu stuttered.

"s-sorry! Tadashi!" Mayu added.

Tadashi chuckled and said.

"don't worry, we'll be heading back and soon you'll be able to rest".

Mizuki nodded and caressed Mayu's cheek. Mayu nodded and yawned once more and drifted to sleep.

A few minutes passed and they're still walking, Mizuki and Tadashi can hear Mayu's soft mumbling. Mizuki takes glances of Mayu and sometimes, caresses her. As for Tadashi, he keeps on his track but sometimes gets out of focus everytime Mizuki takes glances of Mayu, thinking that she's also looking at him.

Later, they reached the hospital and Tadashi laid Mayu carefully on her bed, Mizuki supporting her. Tadashi sat on a soft bench near Mayu's bed and relaxed for a bit. Mizuki, sat on a chair next to Mayu.

Mizuki smiled at Mayu's sleeping form and bent down to kiss her forehead. Tadashi saw this and smiled at Mizuki, thinking that Mayu's very lucky to have a great sister.

Tadashi then slightly frowned knowing that Mayu wouldn't be able to live another year. He remembered the time that they shared each other's situation and realizes that Mizuki's situation is a very tough one. Her only family, slowly falling apart. He frowned as he imagines Mizuki's smile disappear once Mayu's gone.

She would be left alone. Tadashi then made himself a promise that he will be by her side no matter what so that she wouldn't feel alone.

But the questions roaming in his mind is making him upset. Would he be the one for Mizuki? Would he be able to make her happy or worse? Would Mizuki, accept his feelings? The last question made Tadashi frown. What if she likes someone else...? What if she already has someone, waiting for her?. The questions kept on going and it made him have a slight headache.

"Just focus, Tadashi. Keep on trying." Tadashi muttered for himself and looked at Mizuki.

There he saw Mizuki, staring at Mayu for quite a long time. Tadashi then stood up, went towards Mizuki and placed his hand on her shoulder. Mizuki somehow jumped from the sudden presence and faced Tadashi.

"I-i'm sorry.. I was.. I was.... I..." Mizuki trailed off.

Tadashi shushed Mizuki and smiled.

"don't worry, i understand"

Mizuki smiled at Tadashi and glanced at Mayu once again.

"I guess we should get going.." Mizuki suggested as she stood up and went towards the door.

"sure, you can go ahead, I'll catch up" Tadashi smiled.

Mizuki nodded and waited outside. Tadashi took his bag and pulled out a small teddy bear.

He pulled out a small piece of paper and a pen and wrote:

"here's a little gift from me. It was nice meeting you. -Tadashi"

Tadashi then placed the note on the end table and placed the teddy bear on top of it. Tadashi smiled then headed towards the door, and went outside.

He saw Mizuki, sitting on a bench, waiting patiently for him. Tadashi approached her and smiled. Mizuki looked up to see Tadashi, smiling. Mizuki smiled back, stood up and gestured him to get going.
