Dani

I fell asleep with Maddie curled up in my lap, I dont know how long we were that way when things changed.

The enemy was here, our guardians were agitated. I looked at Alpha Dante and could see his determination to be helpful.

"Do you think we are going to die?" Zeppelin whispers and I look at him. He's curled up next to Gramms' side looking up at her with worry.

"No I don't think so, we have the elders here with us, have faith in our protectors," Gramms whispers back with a smile.

Please Goddess take care of us, and all those we care about! I send up a small prayer. I only hope she can hear me.

Dante

Earlier

So far it had been quiet, I made my rounds checking to see that everyone was as comfortable as they could be. When my siblings first moved spots I was checking on some of our neighbors. So I didn't see them move, so for a second I felt a shot of panic at them not being where I left them.

A quick scan brought me to Granny Jo, ofcourse they went to her. She only has looked after us all of our lives. I start walking towards them when I notice a girl next to her that I've never seen before.

She's cute, with dark hair and fair skin. My sister Maddie has just climbed into her lap and she has a sweet smile. Now is not the time to be checking out girls. But when I stand infront of them I cant seem to help looking at her. She peeks at me and her eyes dilated just a bit, they are hazel. When I feel a twitch somewhere that should NOT be twitching, especially when I'm infront of my siblings and Granny Jo. I turn my attention to them and away from the girl.

Telling the kids through our family link to behave, I turn and get back to my rounds.

Now

The first thing I noticed was that the elders that stayed with us were gathering near the entrance. Then I felt a slight tremor, they're here.

I go over to the elders and so does the former Alpha of Crimson Moonlight.

"Let's fortify the concealment barrier"

"Elder Susan says that they need some backup"

"Alpha Dante you should stay here where it is safe"

"No I will help as well, I maybe young but I'm far from helpless," I say asserting my dominance as an Alpha should.

"Yes I believe that you are," Crimson Moonlight's former Alpha says endorsing me.

"Then let's give them hell!"

Dani

The Elders, Alpha Dante, and our former Alpha head out to help the Elders outside.

"No Dante just went outside," Maddie starts to struggle to get out of my hold. "He can't go," she says on a sob.

"Believe in your brother, I know you're scared and want to go to him but he needs to know that you're safe in here or he wont be able to focus. So please, please don't go," I plead with Maddie and her other small siblings stop struggling to follow him as well.

"Dani is right have faith in your brother, if you lot try to go out there now.... he could get hurt and so could you," Gramms says solemnly and Maddie just sags into me.

She starts to cry and I hug her close and rock with her. I rest my cheek on her hair and humm softly like my mom does when I dont feel good. Like she would when I would get scared, like she does when we just need to feel close.

It feels like forever and no time at all when they come back to tell us it's safe to go back to our packhouse. Dante comes to his siblings and they all jump on him at the same time tackling him to the floor. I cant help the giggles that come out but I'm just so happy that he's ok and made it back to them.

I'm mid giggle when he looks at me and smiles. My ears get so hot and so do my cheeks, wow he's REALLY CUTE. His coffee colored hair is mussed from the fighting or maybe his siblings I'm not sure. His honey brown eyes light up at my blush.

"Alpha I'm so glad to see you unharmed or were till the children tackled you," my Gramms chuckles.

"I'm good Jo but some of the other were not as fortunate right now they are being transported back to the Crimson Moonlight packhouse. If you guys get off me we can get everybody on the buses again and go." He says and they jump off him.

"Okay we'll go help everyone!" they ran off.

"Guys stop running and calm down!" he calls after them while shaking his head.

I start giggling again, and he smiles at me. "Hi I'm Dante," he holds out his hand and I take it "Dani, I'm glad you're ok Maddie and the others have been very worried."

"Yeah the loss of our parents has been hard on us all," he says as his siblings (the older ones) go around helping the others while the younger ones were being lead out with the other children.

"I'm sorry for the loss of your parents and baby sister," I whisper to him and he looks at me.

"Thankyou, I see they told you."

"Maddie told me, they had wanted to follow you, the younger ones but we talked them down. I've always wanted a sibling but my mom could only have me, having seen their worry for you I wonder if I would be able keep as calm as you. In times of worry, does that make sense?" I ask and he nods.

"Yes but it's more rewarding to have them than not. The quiet must be nice though if you're trying to sleep," he smiles and I nod.

"Yeah but my parents always wake me early, they say it's to take place of the noise siblings that they couldn't give me would make, I think they just like messing with me," I say and he laughs.

"They sound nice, are they here?" He asks looking around.

"No they are fighting with the other warriors," I say and my worry enters my voice.

He takes my hand giving it a gentle squeeze, then he's called away and I go help my pack get ready to move.
