Lia tried not to show how surprised she was as much as possible. Claude is
dazzling that one can't just look at him.

The coat of arms of the Duke was neatly embroidered on the glossy uniform.

His hair was also well-groomed, and so his forehead and nose bridge stands out.

No matter how embarrassed she is, she couldn't take her eyes off of him.

Claude suddenly leans closer in front of Lia's dazed face.

"Canillian, are you still sleepy?"

She immediately came back to her senses as she heard the voice near her, so she straightened her posture.

"Why are you here? What about the engagement ceremony?"

"I was on my when to the Palace, but then I saw you. What are you doing
here instead of taking part in the ceremony?"

"Oh... I'm not feeling well."

Lia loudly feigned a cough for several times. Then she turned the first page of the new book that she borrowed, while reading Claude's expression.

It was a noticeable lie.

Claude held back his laughter at the distinguishable excuse, he tilted his head and look at her.

The man's shoulder from amusement.

"Canillian, if you're feeling ill, then you should go to the doctor, not in the library."

Lia was guilty of what the Young Duke had said, but she decided to be brazen.

Contemplating about it, she has been doing shameless things quite frequently these days.

From the day she had entered the academy, she had met a lot of people and had to lie 10 more times than usual. She's getting better at lying. At the sudden realization, Lia stiffened.

"Were you really not feeling well?"

It was an unexpected gentle voice. Raising her head, she swallowed and nodded.

"Not really good."

"Let's go to the hospital."

"It's not to that extent."

"Then come with me. To the Imperial Palace."

However, if she encounters the Marquis' wife...

'I could understand how the Marchioness feels when she came to me early the morning and asked me politely. And didn't I already go along with it?

Nonetheless, if I ignore her request and still attend the engagement ceremony, it would've looked like I just deceived the Marquis' wife.'

Staring at her as she mindlessly turn the pages of the book she have, Claude then said.

"Then, there's no reason for me to go either."

He picks up the cushion as he tries to lie down on the sofa.

"Duke, you can't be absent to the ceremony. My brother will be sad."

Not minding his neat uniform to crumple, Claude eventually lay on the sofa.

"There will be a lot of people, it'll be difficult to notice if I'm missing."

"No matter how many people there are, the Duke always stands out."

He turned his head and looked straight at her. She felt a chill from his serious gaze.

"My father got hurt. He's at the Palace right now, trying to take a rest. No one knows when he'll recover. He became really weak from the frequent poisoning and attacks."
