The accident that occurred on the road in broad daylight made noise in
Ethear.

The one who deliberately caused the accident was Dornan, the loyal servant of the Marchioness.

The accident almost took Dornan's life, and during the police investigation, he countered that it was because of Matisse's reckless driving. However, citizens who have witnessed the whole scene testified that Matisse wasn't dozing off and that the vehicle was moving at normal speed.

The owner of a nearby cafe also pointed out Dornan's false testimony, saying that Matisse was driving slowly and was about to pull over just before the accident.

At that, Dornan then decided to change his testimony like a flip of a palm.

He overturned the events by saying that everything was his plan.

He confessed that he was the one who guided the anarchists into the Marquis' house, gave them the diamonds, and pointed out Canillian Vale to be the culprit. And he claimed that he caused the accident due to being afraid that his sins will be exposed.

But it was all a lie.

Dornan's testimony was consistently dull and nothing but nonsense. His testimony had a reason for the question of 'why', but he remained silent and appoints a lawyer.

"He's getting out like that."

Eventually, upon hearing the reports that Dornan was unlikely to confess
the truth, Claude lit the cigarette he was holding.

In the sunlit reception room in the Grand Duke's residence, Owen looks at
his Master's expression and felt like he's walking on thin ice.

Ten days ago, Canillia got injured from the road accident. She had two major seizures.

And every time that it occurs, Claude would grab the doctor by the collar. As soon as her condition was stable, she was moved from the hospital room to the Grand Duke's residence.

Claude still has some wounds from that day.

He jumped out of the car and pulled Canillia out even though his finger was
broken.

Then, when the vehicle exploded, the flames engulfed the road. Owen was looking at Claude's hand with a splint and placed down some pain relievers.

"Take care of yourself first, Master. And... I received a message from Grand
Duke Ian Sergio, informing about his visit soon."

Claude's eyebrow furrowed when he heard that Ian was going to visit.

"Was he doing good?"

"Yes, he is. He was discharged from the hospital yesterday."

"What's the purpose of his visit?"

"It's a visit for the Lady."

"Ha, that's funny."

Claude was cynical as he gripped the armrest and raised himself up. After gulping down the pain relievers that Owen prepared, he heads toward the room where Canillia is.

The sunroom was lightened up, and there, a woman was sleeping as she leans against the white sofa.

On the floor was a book that she must've been reading a while ago until it fell, and the blanket that was covering her was pushed to her toes.

Surrounded by light, she was like a soft candy.

After the accident, Canillia spent most of her days in the sunroom.

She was traumatized that someone tried to kill her. After that day, she was extremely afraid of the dark, and a little loud noise would easily startle her.
