"Kieran! What are you talking about?"

Anastasia screamed in shock. Kieran grabbed Anastasia's hand that pulled
his arm, then shook his head.

"I'm not Lian, Mother. We need to correct what's wrong."

"Correct it? What?! What needs to be corrected is not my testimony, but that child who betrayed us!"

Anastasia couldn't overcome the anger, her scream resonates loudly in the spacious reception room.

Failing to read the situation, the Inspector stepped up.

"First of all, we're going to investigate based on the given testimonies. Those testimonies alone doesn't mean that Lord Canillian is the culprit. More important evidence than a testimony should be attained. So the both of you should stop. Young Marquis, you'd better talk to me alone."

"I think that'll be better."

Kieran agreed to the Inspector's proposal, then led the appalled Anastasia
to the study close to the reception room.

The Inspector and Commissioner look into the notebook and talked for a while.

Kieran couldn't hear them well, but it seemed they've drawn a point of consensus about the conflicting testimonies.

"What are you doing, Kieran? How can you ruin my image?"

Anastasia lowered her voice in consideration of her reputation, and
nervously asked Kieran.

"Calm down, Mother. But this isn't it. You pointed out an innocent person as the culprit!"

"Innocent? How can you guarantee that? That kid left the Palace during the banquet. You know that she didn't go back home until the banquet was over, right? Also, it was just before we arrived that we were attacked! If we found Angel a little later... It was horrible."

With both of her hands shaking from the overwhelming emotions, Anastasia turned pale. She doesn't seem to be lying.

It's his own mother. He's the one who knew her best.

If it was a lie, his mother wouldn't be reacting like this. He must've tried to
ignore her opinion in a forceful manner.

It was an unfamiliar sight to see Anastasia being so emotional.

She thought
that maybe Kieran believes that Canillian was really the culprit.

"Where is the witness? The one who saw Lian?"

"I don't know. The Inspector was the one who received the testimony, so I don't know who testified it."

"Who saw the criminal's face?"

"I don't know! But the vault is open. Doing such a thing while Dornan was away... Right, I thought it was strange that she disappeared during the banquet. How dare that child pay me back like this!"

"No, Mother. Please... Stop it. Lian was with the Grand Duke at that time."

Anastasia looked up and forgot what she was about to say, she felt like the
heavens and the earth were shaking.

"His Grace knows it as well. Who Canillian is... and that's she's a woman."

Kieran called a servant to help move his mother to the bedroom, then called a doctor in frustration.
