He once respected Marquis Vale. But now, all that is left is shame.

Claude's every step echoes throughout the greenhouse.

Among the servants clearing the plates, Gillard was sitting alone at one of the tables with his eyes closed.

"Grand Duke, I love my daughter."

Claude was appalled by how the Marquis uttered the word 'love' so
carelessly.

"That's why you've made a decision."

"If I don't, my wife will constantly try to harm Canillia. And I fear that she may succeed at one point. I... I'm anxious of what my wife will do."

The clasped hands of the Marquis were shaking, saying how scared he is. It looked even more absurd for Claude.

"Are you going to send Canillia to Gaior, not because of love, but out of fear?"

"It's for the sake of that child. There's no other way for me to think of."

Gillard slowly opened his eyes and continued to talk.

"So was the banquet today. If it hadn't ended as it was, something terrible would have happened."

"You should be ashamed, Marquis."

Hearing the cold words of the Grand Duke, Gillard bowed his head instead
of giving a response.

Claude thought of what was Ian Sergio thinking. Ian already knew that Canillia is with Claude, but he still reached for the Marquis' hand.

It was a provocation, like Ian was challenging Claude. The unbearable anger made him tremble.

Claude has no intention of letting Lia be sent to Gaior.

'It's been strange from the moment they called in Ian Sergio, and how
determined he looks.'

Ever since Claude found out that Ian proposed to Canillia, he was expecting this kind of situation will happen at any time. Anastasia considers Canillia as a thorn, and her last option would be Ian Sergio.

However, it was still strange.

Treating honor as a life, being humiliated in front of the nobles, and Anastasia just stepped down quite calmly.

'I wonder?'

'Why is that...'

"Your Grace!"

After he left the greenhouse, Claude stopped when he saw Rosina crying. Kieran was following behind her, he was pale when he opened the door to the servants' aisle. Then he rushed into the hall without even looking back.

"What's going on?"

"Marilyn Selby is in this mansion."

"Marilyn? What are you talking about?"

"I saw her through the second floor window. Marilyn was giving a tea to Canillia's driver."

Rosina told Claude everything that she saw.

Shortly after, a loud scream was heard and the door from which Kieran had
gone to suddenly opened.

"Let go of me, my Lord!"

Taken by the arm, Marilyn was being dragged out by Kieran. It was really Marilyn Selby, who disappeared 3 years ago to Louver.

Marilyn stopped from screaming and was loss for words when she saw Claude standing beside Rosina.

Her face turned red because of shame, Claude looked fiercely at Marilyn before asking.

"What happened?"
