There were a lot of people. My social anxiety and mild OCD started to kick in. The pavilion was so loud! And food was everywhere! A gigantic mess. I just tried not to be noticed and stayed quiet.
I feel like I barely made it out alive. After that, I realised I was still holding my backpack. I guess Annabeth noticed too, because she said, "Oh, yeah. Astra, you need to go to the Hermes cabin, that's where we put all the new ones until they get claimed."
"Claimed?" I asked.
"You get claimed by your godly mom/dad, and basically they show themselves as one of your parents."
"Well, that kind of explains why my dad doesn't live with us." I noted.
"Yes, well, we know it's your dad that's your godly parent. Which narrows it down to about half of the gods in the pantheon."
"Oh."
"Yeah, don't worry, though." Annabeth nudged me playfully, but it kind of hurt with me being about 14 years younger than her. "Everyone got claimed here, eventually. But you might take a little longer, since you're 9, right?"
I nodded. She continued on about saying that Percy had asked the gods to make a promise and claim their kids before 13, but the promise had still been broken a couple of times.
It started to get late, so we headed to the campfire. Annabeth handed me a schedule.
"Here, I forgot to give you this earlier. It's your schedule."
Boy, was I nervous.
