Chapter 14: Blowup Parkour Courses Are Funner Than They Seem

I had turned 12 a while ago. Maybe about.... half a year?

The activities hadn't changed much, except for one time when they added this giant blowup obstacle course on the lake. First they added a spell to make it bigger, but it wasn't big enough so they had to dig up some ground to make enough space in the middle. The dryads were not happy about it. I decided to give it a go with Kalen. The obstacle course had lots of options and paths.

For some reason, Cast was allowed by Annabeth and Percy to try the course. Probably because he was a legacy of Poseidon, so he didn't need to worry so much. Annabeth also asked me to look out for him. So, it was Kalen, Cast and I teaming up to conquer the course.

Honestly, it was really fun. Unfortunately, at the start of the course you had to jump into the freezing cold water to get the the course, since it was floating in the middle of the lake. I practically pushed Kalen and Cast in first! Then, I climbed in after them. I covered myself with a bubble but since I still hadn't fully figured my powers out yet, well, brrrrrr. It was cold.

I climbed, no, hauled myself out of the water. I could summon the water off me but if I did, it would be even colder when I fell in again. I just decided to keep the water on me and when Kalen and Cast helped me up, we set off ahead.

There was a thing where we had to hop side to side and no one fell in. Another one after that, but less parts to hop on so it got harder. Afterwards, we turned to the left and there was a twisty line that we crawled across, not wanting to fall. The second one, we thought would be easy since it was straight across so we stood up and walked on it.

Of course, the easiest things become the hardest. I ran across quickly, but then the course wobbled. I found myself in the air right over the water, and BAM. I fell into the water. Kalen pulled me out of the water, and we kept going, turning to the left again. This time there was a crisscrossed path that zigzagged across. Kalen and I made it across (barely) but Cast tripped on one of them and toppled into the water. "WAaH!!"

He tumbled through one of the gaps and I had to stifle a laugh. I almost fell off trying to hold it in. I summoned some water which promptly spit Cast out on the next obstacle, shivering. After that, another zigzagged path. This time, we all looked out for each other and no one fell!

We took ANOTHER turn to the left after the second zigzag path. There was a floaty thing which looked like a ladder but horizontally laid. About 12 rungs to jump on. Kalen went first, leaping from rung to rung. When he reached the fifth or sixth one, he slipped and fell into the gap!

Kalen climbed out and crawled to the other side. I went next. I swiftly jumped from one rung to another, making it to where Kalen was. After, Cast crawled slowly on the side, and he reached the other side. There was another ladder horizontal thing except there were now around 8 rungs to make it harder. No one fell this time.

We were now where we started off, so we went left instead of straight. There were these walls that we had to go around, but of course, we couldn't be bothered to so we just all threw ourselves at the wall. Very surprisingly, it flopped down and we all climbed off. We did this again, but Cast didn't crawl off fast enough and he got flung back! He was stuck so Kalen and I pushed it down for him to get over. We ended up in a pile.

We kept doing it until we got to the end. We went another round but when we finished the first zigzag path, we took a right turn. There were some paths to walk around, it was quite easy. Then, we reached a big pyramid. Cast and Kalen climbed up first. I couldn't go up yet because there were only enough rungs for 2 people. When the reached the top, Kalen yelled, "It's a freaking black hole up there!"

They climbed down and I went up to take a look. At the top, there was a square shaped, gaping hole that if you fell down, you would land in the water.

I did NOT want to take that risk, so instead we all climbed around it, landing on the base of the pyramid. Unfortunately, I stumbled a bit and grabbed onto the pyramid base pole for balance, but it was too big and I couldn't get a good grip. I yelped and fell into the water. AGAIN.

YIKES!! YIKES YIKES! I thought. I swam over to the end where Kalen and Cast were waiting.

We reached the end, and got out of the lake.

"Phew." I said. "Well, that was a fun experience."
