Chapter 6

By the end of the day I was tired. I mean between school, homework and Quidditch practices i’m pretty busy. Finally, I step into the great hall after an exhausting Quidditch practice with Harry, Ginny, Fred, George and the rest of the team.

I sat down between Fred and Harry.

“Hey, we heard about your fancy entrance into Snape’s class today!” Harry announced.

“Does the whole school know by now?” I ask, hoping that not everyone knew.

“Yeah basically!! Joe Francis was telling everyone about it! I wish I could’ve seen it for myself though!” Fred says with a smile on his face. This guy always cheers me up!

“Apparently the Slytherin’s don’t believe you though.. They say you’re not talented enough to do magic like that.” Ron says, oblivious to how that would make me feel.

“Well way to be a downer Ron!” Fred yells and hits Ron with a tomato.

“Yeah, Ron.” George adds, throwing some lettuce.

By now Ron could be a salad! But my mood changes when Pansy Parkinson struts over to me and taps me on the shoulder.

“Way to lie Beatrix, we all know that you could never do magic like that. You just got your petty little Gryffindors to lie for you didn’t you. Dragon my ass!” She squeals.

That’s it. “I did do that magic, and it’s more then you could ever do!” I yell back, by now we’re both standing up, in the isle between the Slytherin and Gryffindor table.

“Please, I could beat you in a duel in my sleep, you lazy ass Gryffindor! You have no talent!” She whips back.

“Excuse me? I have more talent then you could dream up in that little head of yours, with your peanut size brain!” By now a posy of Slytherins, that thankfully didn’t include Draco was crowded behind Pansy, and a group of laughing Gryffindors was behind me.

“Okay prove it then, duel, 8:00, outside the Black Lake.” She hurtles back. This catches me by surprise. But I couldn’t turn it down! Or else she would think that I actually was lying.

“Fine, i’ll see you there, Parkinson.” And with that, I turn around and march back towards the table were I was sitting, fuming.

“So you’re actually going to duel her?” Asks Hermione cautiously. “You can’t be serious! It’s against the rules!”

“Well I can’t back out now! Plus I can take her in my sleep!” I yell. Now everyone knows that i’m pissed off.

“Well if you’re doing it, then we’ll be there to support you, wont we Hermione?” Harry asks, testing to see if ‘Mione would actually be there.

“I guess you’re right, now come on, let’s go back to the common room, and get away from these Slytherins.” She eyes them warily, as well all get up and head towards the common room.

By now, it’s 7:56PM and me, and some Gryffindors are by the black lake, waiting for the Slytherins to show up. Soon enough I see a crowd of green and silver making their way towards us.

“Bea, you can still back out-”

“No, i’m not, so stop pestering me Hermione.” I reply sharply, ignoring her pleas for me to not go through with this. But I want to, I want to prove myself.

Pansy makes her way in front of me in a horrid puke green sweater, and a grey sweater vest (ew).

“Are you ready Winters?” She snivels at me.

“Always.” I reply shortly, getting cheers from some Gryffindors. I take a second too look around while Pansy gets ready. I look through the Slytherins and see the platinum blonde hair. Draco’s here, and he’s watching me. Oh gosh, I cannot make a fool of myself.

Suddenly a burst of light comes from Pansy’s wand and it hits me in the shoulder.

“Hey, we’re not starting yet!” I yell, seriously can she play fair for once in her life?

“Now we are! Expelliarmus! She yells, she is not getting my wand!

Protego! I yell in my head, and the spell rebounds, and makes her wand fly out of her hand.

“Um, I think you’re missing something.” I say innocently. This sends her over the edge. She runs to get her wand, and well i’m waiting...

Expelliarmus!” I wasn’t expecting this, so my wand flies out of my hand. I go to get it but-

“Nuh-uh!” She points her wand at me.

“Well let her get her wand!” Yells a Gryffindor. I just smirk.

I focus on the air and wind around me. Suddenly the air is swirling around us. Lightning breaks out, and I smile. I open my eyes, and everyone looks at me with wide eyes.

Precardre Totraluos I yell in my head. I put my arms straight out in front of me, and a blast of red, explodes from my hands, and throws her backwards. Disoriented.

I walk over to her. “Don’t you dare, ever call me a liar again, or you can expect much worse next time!” I say right in her face. All the colour in her face drains.

I quickly shift, and with a crack I turn into a large eagle. I pick her up with my new talons, and fly over the lake. I release her, and I hear a loud splash!

Hey what can I say, I hate being called a liar. I dropped her in a shallow part in the lake, don’t worry!

I fly back to the shore, and shift in mid air, landing on two legs. Immediately claps erupt from the Gryffindors. I just laugh as Fred and George lift me onto their shoulders.

The surprised looks from the Slytherins are hilarious. The group of Gryffindors walk, and laugh back to the castle. With me still on the twin’s shoulders. I look up, and in the window I see an old man peaking out. With glasses, blue eyes, and a long beard I can’t help but laugh. Dumbledore watched the whole time. And he was chuckling to himself. He’s a great headmaster.

I look back at the lake and see Pansy drenched in water, screaming at the students. But something else catches my eye, and I see Draco staring at me, with large eyes, and an amused look on his face. I guess I have to explain a few things on our date tomorrow...
