Communication Is Key

(Y/N)'s Pov

I was walking back to Camilo with 2 coffee cups when I saw him talking to a girl. She had middle length blonde hair and blue eyes, around my height, really pretty

I thought nothing of it until they stopped talking and she walked towards me, "Hi, you must be (Y/N)"

"That's me, and you are..?"

"I'm Alyssa," she turned back around at Camilo then looked at me again slyly, "you're really lucky, you're boyfriend's a real good kisser."

"What?" I shouted, what the hell is going on?

My eyes followed her as she walked away, "(Y/N)!" Camilo called, he came up to me, I nonchalantly hand him his coffee, "Why did that girl say you're a good kisser." I said as more of a statement instead of a question with a dead voice, my eyes were burning through him

"She said that to you?" Camilo shook his head, "That's Alyssa, my ex girlfriend, we dated a long time ago it was nothing serious. She was just thanking me because Julieta sent her family food when they were sick."

I looked at the ground, "I haven't kissed her since we were like 16, I don't know why she did that but you can obviously see why it didn't work out.." he explained

I sighed, he cupped my face with his other hand, "I'm yours, (Y/N). Only yours, I won't talk to her anymore of it makes you uncomfortable. " he said with a sure tone

"No Camilo it's fine, I just wasn't expecting that. I mean it's your family's job to help people, of course they're gonna wanna thank you afterwards."

Camilo pulled me in and kissed me on the head, "I'm lucky to have you princesa."

It wasn't the full truth, but come on can you blame me?

Now before we go into depth on what I did next, let me ask these 2 questions..

Was it a good idea for me to hide my feelings of discomfort from Camilo? No. Was I going to do the normal thing and just straight up tell him? Also no.

I was sitting with one of Camilo's close friends, Daniel. We were just talking together for a while since Camilo said he had to go help out a villager for a while.

Of course niether of us thought I wouldn't be sitting alone by the time he got back.

(A/N: they're about to talk about some modern day topics. That might be mentioned throughout the book but F it, it's an alternate universe and it just makes more sense this way.)

"So you're going to see Bad Bunny next month?" I ask him, Daniel nods. "Yeah, on the 30th"

"No way that's so cool, he's a total genius." I say, "I know his last album was fire." Daniel says

We laughed together until I noticed the sun was going down. "Ooh, it's getting pretty late.. I better start heading home." Camilo did say that if he wasn't back by this time to just go home and he'd come see me.

Daniel got up with me, "I'll walk you." He said with a hopeful smile, "Oh, no it's okay really.."

"Please, a pretty girl like you shouldn't have to walk home all by herself. Besides Camilo isn't here to walk with you, it's not a problem."

"Except Camilo's right here."

We turn around and see Camilo standing with his arms crossed, "Hey babe."

"Hi amor," I look back at Daniel, "thanks for hanging out with me."

"No problem (Y/N)."

"Yeah thanks," Camilo began "I'm gonna make sure my girlfriend gets home safe now." He sounded serious as he snaked an arm around my waist.

It should be noted that I wasn't planning to make Camilo jealous on purpose, Daniel just saw me sitting alone and kept me company for the meantime.

"Well, see you guys." Daniel says as he walks away.

"Bye," I wave. Camilo and I started walking to my house, "what was that about?" I ask

"He was flirting with you (Y/N) how could you not notice?" Camilo answered clearly mad

I shrugged, "I don't know cause you showed up just in time. Plus I figured you thought it was normal since Miss Alyssa was probably doing the same to you."

Camilo stopped in his tracks, I looked back at him to see a look of disbelief in his eyes. "Is that seriously what this is about? I told you before, Alyssa is practically history, I don't see her unless she or her family needs our help. Or are you gonna be jealous of every villager I help?"

I felt my nose sting and my vision get blurry, I turned around blinking the tears away so Camilo wouldn't see me cry. "I'm sorry." I breathed

I heard him run behind me, "(Y/N)." I just kept walking, "no you're right, that's not my place." I mumbled with my voice breaking getting closer into my house

Camilo followed me inside, "Stop I didn't mean it like that." I didn't say anything, all I wanted was to go to my room that to my surprise, he actually followed me to

I crawled into my bed and silently let tears fall, calming myself down with deep breaths like Camilo taught me. Although I was upset, I can't forget the times he was there when I was losing my mind.

I felt a weight on the other side of the bed who I knew was Camilo. He just stayed quiet for a minute until I spoke, "I'm really sorry.. that I didn't tell you how I felt."

He responded with a sad voice, "I am too. I know you said it's not your place but it is, I know exactly how I would feel if it were the other way around."

I sat up wiping my eyes to see my boyfriend looking at me with sad eyes. "You do?"

He nodded, "Of course, I'm sorry for what I said mi vida. I didn't mean to make you cry."

I crawled closer to him so we were sitting next to eachother, but still facing one another. "I forgive you Cami, I hope you can forgive me to."

Camilo gently got ahold of my hand, lifting it towards him and placing a kiss on my wrist, "I do, but just be honest with me about how you feel from now on. I won't be mad at you or anything.."

I nodded, "I will. And you're right, honesty is important, communication is important.." I rambled on before this boy cut me off, "I love you Y/n."

I looked at him silent for a moment, "huh?" Did he really just say that or am I losing my mind?

He just smiled and pulled me in for a deep sensual kiss, when he pulled away he said it again, "I love you Y/n L/n." His voice was deep and his eyes were soft

I happily smiled, "I love you too Camilo Madrigal." I say slowly leaning in to kiss him again

He then hugged me tightly, I felt him smile into my shoulder. "Will you stay a little longer?"

Camilo sighed, "Okay princesa just for you." He pulled away from our hug and kissed me on the cheek, "wait right here okay?" He nodded

I came back into the room with a bowl of cut up fruit, "we've got a wide variety selection between strawberry, kiwi, pineapple, watermelon, pink grapefruit.." I finished my sentence as Camilo just looked at me with a wide smile

"I don't know about you, but all this making up has made me hungry."

Camilo just laughed, "You're too cute Y/n." We ate the fruit and it felt like so much weight was lifted off my shoulders, as we finally said our I love yous, today we began gradually talking about our future a lot more.
