Authors Note: I haven't written fanfiction in about 5-6 years, so pardon me if I'm a bit rusty. I won't make any promises to finish any stories because I don't want to get anyone's hopes up. I used to do that I feel, so I am sorry to those who got excited thinking a story would be updated when it wasn't. I am rewatching OUAT and I'm currently on season 3b (and probably will be for a while because it only goes downhill from there in terms of outlaw queen.) I hope everyone is doing well :)

Prompt:  Regina and Robin go fishing at a lake during the missing year.

"Robin I really don't see how spending the day sitting in the sun waiting for you to catch fish is supposed to be relaxing," Regina remarked while surveying their surroundings. Robin had managed to convince her to tag along to go to a hidden lake while he went fishing like he did every Sunday evening. To him, it was his way of relaxing, and from the way the Queen's jaw had constantly been in a fixed position of tension the past few months, he thought it would do her some good.

"M'lady I didn't bring you here expecting to hear you complain about watching me," he replied smirking as he cast his line into the clear water of the lake.

"What did you bring me here for then?" Regina asked, a hint of annoyance touching the surface of her words. She had gotten used to acting like the thief irritated her, but really he had been her source of solace and comfort for her ever since she returned to the Enchanted Forest. On late nights working with Snow in the castle library, he would come in to ask how things were holding up, but they both knew he was really just asking that to see how she was holding up. On rough nights alone and missing Henry she would go to Robin. They'd walk around the gardens and talk for hours about their lives, finding comfort in one another though it was no more than friendly comfort.

"I brought you here to show you that life doesn't always have to be so hard. There's beauty in our world even when you feel like you can't see it. I thought it would be nice to have a calmer distraction for the evening than reading about all the ways a flying monkey can kill you." Robin looked over at her and smiled, his eyes wrinkling and his lips curling up into the adorable smile she had come to long for.

He moved closer to her and handed her the pole.

"Wanna try?" he asked anticipating a harsh no.

"Only if you help me cast it," she replied, her tongue touching the corner of her lip as she smiled back at him. She was flirting back at him, which was a first as usually he was the one who was so bold in his affections.

"Alright come here," he stood up on the large rock they were sitting on and motioned for her to stand in front of him. He positioned her arms correctly on the pole and put his arms on top of hers. Putting his body as close behind hers, they cast the fishing line in to the water with a small splash. Reginas heart was racing in her chest, unbeknownst to Robin, as they had never shared more than a friendly handhold before. Now he was pressed up against her so tight that it made it hard for her to concentrate on anything he was saying or doing. God look at yourself Regina your so sex-deprived your convincing yourself you're attracted to a forest dwelling thief, Regina thought to herself.

"See it's not so hard," Robin said as he let go of her arms and backed up a bit.
They sat back down and continued to fish quietly, listening to the breeze and the distant animals that could be spotted with a squinted eye on the other side of the lake. After a while Regina looked over at Robin and found him already staring at her, a glimmer of something unfamiliar in his eyes.

"What?" She asked laughing. She felt something in her chest shift the longer he stared at her.

"I'm just admiring the view." He wasn't lying. The sun was starting to set and the clouds were a lovely array of pink and orange colors. It just so happened that she was sitting in front of his view of the sky.

Regina looked at him again catching his eyes with hers. The energy between them was electric, though neither of them dared to make a move. They sat there for a moment before she reeled in her line and handed him his pole.
"We should get going it'll be dark soon and although this was nice, I can't avoid my responsibilities forever." She stood up and offered him her hand to help him up, but he just remained there staring at her.

"Are you getting up?" She was starting to get antsy. She was worried he was going to make a move, and although the thought of his lips touching her skin and his hands on her body ripping her dress down while kissing her under the setting sun was more than alluring to her, she had just lost her son and you couldn't afford getting overly attached to someone else. Not as long as Zelena remained a threat.

"I just think you're beautiful Regina. Thats all." He locked his eyes with hers again and smiled. Then he took her hand to get up [although he really just took it so he could hold her hand] and they started climbing down the rocks to head back towards the trail they hiked in on.

"Did you have fun m'lady?" Robin asked as they started walking on the path back to the castle. The sun had disappeared and the moon and stars had appeared in the sky while the last remainders of magenta and purple could be seen in the sky.

"I actually did have fun. Who knew sitting on rocks in silence in the middle of a forest could be enjoyable," she remarked chuckling. She knew she shouldn't get involved with him, knew it would come crashing down like every good thing in her life did, but she couldn't help herself as she took his hand in hers as they walked back to their home under the magenta moon.

Authors note again: I hope this was okay. Like I said I'm a bit rusty in the writing department. If you have any prompts you want written comment them. I'm gonna try to write some that I never got to, but like I said no promises.  I will do my best. Also i'm a lesbian and will happily write lesbian pairings with Regina. Thanks for reading :)
