Y/n's pov

Jayce stared down in horror realizing he killed another innocent child. We the child took his class breath he looked up at the rest of the child workers Silco had. Jayce squatted down to his knees then used his hands to closed the now deceased boy's eyes. I stood there watching him while Vi was busy watching the enforcers take away the shimmer and the children workers. I heard her loud footsteps approaching us causing me to glance back at her then back at Jayce.

"You didn't have a choice", Vi spoke causing me to look away a bit. "He knew what he was signing up for", she added. Jayce stood up and turned to face us.

"We're done here", he said. "We haven't even scratched the surface Silco's still out there", she retorted. Jayce let out a sigh while looking away. "Di you not understand I am part of this now", he shouted. "The next parent's who get a message their kid isn't coming home..I don't even know where to take it", he explained acting sympathetic. "Do we just leave him here", he questioned.

"You're acting sympathetic now", I scoffed. "Let's burn him up with the rest of the people you killed, the rest of the children you killed", I scoffed walking towards him. "I never killed anyone", he replied. "And would you know that huh", I questioned. "I mean all you do is wave your fucking hand Jayce, you could've killed thousands of children without even noticing", I explained.

"You're wrong", he sighed shaking his head. "Y/n's right, you have always been a part of this you just never had to look it in the eye"", Vi shouted. "One dead kid? There's hundreds more where he came from thanks to Silco and thanks to people like you who stuck their head in the dirt", she snapped. Jayce just shook his head.

"This is over", he repeated. "Not for us", Vi replied bawling her metal gauntlets into a fist. "Take those off", he demanded going to grab his Warhammer. I quickly took an arrow from my quiver then put into my bow. I aimed it straight at his face, daring him to move an inch.

"You do realize who you're threatening", he questioned glaring down at me. "I do", I replied pulling the arrow back a bit more. "Just another weak, egotistical man", I sneered. "I can't let you leave with those", he stated. "Then I guess you're going have to kill another trencher", Vi replied ready to charge at Jayce. I backed away to put some distance in between them. Jayce grabbed his Warhammer powering up. Just when I thought he was about to charge he lift it up and began walking away. Just before he left with the other enforcers, he said "You two can't do this alone".

"Watch us", Vi replied. Jayce shook his head then began leaving with the other enforcers. Vi walked over towards the boy to look down at him then marched towards the huge machine holding the shimmer. She slammed her fist into it letting all the purple liquid spill out onto the floor.

"Let's go", she said walking towards the exit with me following her. We soon left the now destroyed factory.

☾☾☾

Vi and I were laying low somewhere to hide from Silco's people. We knew Silco and Sevika were at the factories. I knew Vi wanted to fight Sevika and we knew she will be at the last drop later on so why not wait.

"...You think if everything went differently we would still have met", Vi suddenly asked. I stayed quiet thinking about what se had said.

"Eventually yeah", I answered. "I first saw you on my daily trips to Cait's house", I chuckled. "Daily trips", she questioned. "I snuck out from home a lot, one of the good things about huge caves no one could really pinpoint where you're at half the time", I explained. "Except my grandma she knew when I snuck out", I added. Vi gave a small smile while nodding her head. She moved away from the wall she was leaning on to sit beside me. She rested her head on top of mine. "She also helped me come up with lies for my dad", I explained smiling fondly at the memory of my grandma.

"So you and Cait huh", she questioned. "Yeah didn't expect to see her again, I'm glad I got to though", I admitted. "..How close were you two", she asked. "Very she is my best friend", I answered. "I think I had a small crush on her during that time", I chuckled dryly. "Not anymore right", she questioned. "...Vi are you jealous", I questioned. "What no no I'm not just curious that's all", she quickly replied. "Cait is just a friend and besides another girl has my eye already", I explained. "She must be lucky then", she replied causing me to chuckle. "Very lucky", I added.

                   "...It's me right"

                    "Yes Vi, it's you"

"Anyway, you think your dad would've liked me", she asked. "No not at first, maybe never", I replied. "But he would still see as family", I added. "Guess that's reassuring enough", she commented causing me to giggle. "What about Vander", I asked. "He would've loved you", she replied "As in like he would LOVE you or actually he would like me", I asked. "He would've liked you Y/n", she chuckled. "That's good", I sighed. My hand that was holding hers tightened bit.

"Something wrong", she asked making me shake my head. "Nothing just no matter how messed up everything has been since the fire I'm really grateful I got to meet you", I answered. "You really have a way with words you know", she sighed causing me to glance at her. "It's your fault", I giggled causing her to look at me as well. "I'm not complaining", she chuckled leaning close to my face sealing our lips together. Our lips slowly dance with one another, our tongues dancing like two slow dancers in love. When we felt like we needed air we broke the kiss. We leaned our foreheads onto each other, her breath fanning over my lips.

"Are you ready", she asked causing me to quickly shake my head. "Can we just stay here for a few minutes", I asked. "Of course", she replied. We leaned our foreheads away then cuddled closer together. We enjoyed the silence and the darkness of the room. Just enjoying the warmth of each other's body before we had to go back outside.
