It was now Friday, and instead of driving to the movie theater, I was driving to Xaria's house. The plans had changed. She couldn't go out this weekend so she invited me over.
She told me she invited a couple of her friends and Aries. Her mom and dad had this tradition of watching the movie This Christmas every few days before Christmas.
I really wanted to bail, because my hands were shaking as I texted her back, but she sounded so excited that we were going to be able to hang out again, so–I couldn't.
She did tell me she usually invites a couple of her close friends when they watch it. It was supposed to calm my nerves but it didn't. The GPS told me to turn and the house would be on the right.
After finding somewhere to park, I grabbed my phone and called her, she picked up on the fourth ring. "Hey, are you here?" She asked.
"Y-yea, I'm outside." I mumbled and she rushed out an 'okay' and an 'I'm coming right now,'.
I watched as the white fence opened and she came out, I got out of the car then. Palms sweating, I shoved my phone into my back pocket. Rubbing my palms on my jeans, and fixing the white, brown, and tan oversized sweater I wore with my skinny flare jeans, converse on my feet.
Walking towards her I saw she was wearing, a white baggy shirt that had green writing on the top corner, light blue jeans, and white and green low blazers.
"Hey Acura," She smiled, revealing her teal braces. Which were hardly peaking through her soft pink plump, glossy lips.
"Hey X-Xaria," I smiled slightly and waved a little awkwardly.
"So, all my friends bailed so it'll just be us and my parents, but we're not starting the movie until 8:30," It was only 7. She opened the gate and I walked up the porch standing off to the side as her hand reached for the doorknob on the yellow door.
"You're not like allergic or afraid of cats are you?" She turned and I shook my head. "Good."
She opened the door stepping to the side so I could come inside then closed it behind us.
Clearing her throat, all eyes turned towards us and away from their conversations, "Guys this is my friend Acura," She gestured to me.
I scanned their faces quickly before staring down at my feet.
"Acura, this is my mom, my dad, my auntie Jace, and uncle Miles." I looked up hearing Aries' parents' names.
"Hi e-ever-y-yone," I spoke softly.
"We'll be in my room until the movie starts, alright?" She didn't give her parents a moment to answer before she walked off waving me to follow her.
I didn't look back at the adults on the couches, as I hurried following behind Xaria. Her door was open and she closed it softly behind us.
"Well, this is my room. You can sit on my bed if you like." My lips slightly parted taking in the scenery of her room.
Her walls were lined with posters, a huge mirror behind the door. A Persian rug on the floor under her desk that held books on top of books. Tapestries were hung on her ceiling, and her ceiling fan was painted.
Her side table looked nice, and by the corner where her closet was sat a bean bag chair next to a huge bookshelf that took up the empty wall where a tv might sit.
"Wow," I walked inside and looked around. I wanted to go and look at the books on her shelves to see her genres, but I decided to sit on the end of her bed. She took her shoes off and sat down at the top of the bed, her back against the wall.
