Andrew walked over to the stove and put the kettle on, he walked around his one bedroom apartment at the back of the church, he was happy at his accommodations. Just left of his kitchen he had a small bathroom with a toilet, sink and a shower and a small cubby to hold his towels, a bedroom right beside it and a kitchen living room combo, perfect for a man who needs very little to be happy.
He opened up his bible and started looking for verses that talked about the holy spirit's ability to heal and help those who share in the sorrow of the missing girls parents. This whole book is about the holy spirit healing and helping, that doesn't narrow it down he thought and chuckled to himself.
He found a part about the holy spirit talking to the people when he had a flash of a memory, Lindsay shaking and convulsing on the ground Bubbie shimmering over her giving off a red glow to usual clear or iridescent shimmer. Andrew tried to shake the thought out of his head but it was too late, he was remembering their trip into the graveyard all those years ago.
He remembered how much his hands were sweating and thinking about how he didn't care if Lindsay was grossed out, he was taking her hand, Lindsay jumped and cursed at him for scaring her.
Scaring her he thought I'm the one whose about to pee their pants, he hated the way the ground felt under his feet as he walked, the thought of walking on dead bodies made him feel sick to his stomach, if she hadn't of felt the need to prove that she can communicate with the dead to him after his jokes about doubting her they wouldn't be here.
He tried to tell her that he actually believed her and was only joking, tried to reason with her saying that he has seen her talking to Bubbie and believes her that there was no need to prove anything, but for whatever reason Lindsay was determined to do this.
When they stopped at the grave of Madeline Matthews Andrew was confused, Lindsay explained that she was some kind of witch who cursed the town or didn't curse the town, Andrew didn't really know or care.
He tried to convince Lindsay that it was a bad idea dangerous and unholy. She told him that he was only there to watch and he wasn't going to get involved at all, he watched as she unpacked the candles she brought and arranged them in front of the gravestone and lit each of them.
She was distracted for a moment by Bubbie, he could always tell when Bubbie was talking to her she would stare off into space and tilt her head slightly as if to hear him better and sometimes nodding her head, she was doing this now but not nodding, only telling Bubbie that he's there to protect if anything goes wrong.
Andrews stomach lurched at the thought of anything going wrong, it was already wrong, this whole situation was wrong. He couldn't believe his ears when he heard Lindsay calling out to the spirit to communicate with her, he watched Lindsay intently and nothing happened, after a minute he started to see Lindsay visibly shake, he reached out to touch her and pulled his hand away quickly, she was so cold, how could her skin be so cold it wasn't normal.
His mouth gaped open when Lindsay's eyes started to roll back in her head then went back to normal except Andrew didn't recognize Lindsay's eyes, the usual beautiful blue was replaced by all black.
His skin started to crawl when he heard her speak " Why have I been disturbed" said Lindsay's face but not her voice "who calls me forward to communicate", her black eyes fix on Andrew. "Was it you handsome one?"
Andrew was frozen but his eyes could see the hollows of her eye sockets through her black eyes, he watched with fear as she began ripping at her shirt and exposing her breast, the black saliva that dripped from her lips almost made Andrew pass out, he couldn't move or speak, fear had paralyzed him.
The Lindsay creature crawled along the grass towards Andrew, her hands reaching for him "been so long without touching anyone, please just a little touch" the gravelly voice purred. Andrew felt his bladder go loose and his pants go warmer.
He started backing up as the Lindsay creature crawl faster, he backed up until he felt a tree hit him in the back, he watched with terrified eyes as the Lindsay creature got closer. Andrew closed his eyes and said a prayer.
She was reaching out her hand to touch him when suddenly she flew back through the air, Andrew opened his eyes in time to see a red glow on top of the Lindsay creature, it pulsed over Lindsay so quick that it made Andrews vision blur or maybe it was his tears.
He watched as Lindsay started to convulse and her eyes roll in the back of her head, with one final red burst of shimmer it was done. Lindsay's eyes returned to their beautiful blue and she slowly sat up.
Andrew took off his jacket and immediately wrapped it arounder her, " Are you ok?" he asked, looking at Lindsay square in the eyes just to make sure. Lindsay looked down at the stain on Andrews crotch and her ripped shirt, he couldn't believe it when she responded " why do I always miss the fun stuff".
The high pitched scream of the kettle brought Andrew out of the graveyard and into reality, he needed a cup of tea now more than ever. He didn't like thinking about that night but if it wasn't for that night he might not of found his true calling, he knew his prayer that night was heard and he has devoted his life to prayer and his heart and dedication to the man who provided the answer to his prayer.
He was enjoying the smell of his steeping tea when his phone rang, it was 7:00 in the evening, who would be calling and I pray they're not in trouble. Good evening, Father Andrew speaking, he relaxed when he heard Detective Sara Morgans voice on the other end, "Hey Andrew, I was wondering if I could come by tomorrow morning, just have something I want to run by you."
"Absolutely" said Andrew "how about 10:30" he continued. They both agreed and Sara said that she would bring something for a late breakfast, he told her that there was no need, he was happy to cook for them. Being a single child with an absentee mother made Andrew a good cook.
