Lindsay felt a wet clammy hand resting against her wrist and slowly opened her eyes and smiled "Good lord Andrew, why are you so clammy" she said in a whisper, Andrew's head popped up, Lindsay could see that his eyes were red and puffy "oh thank heavens your awake" he said in a relieved tone.

Lindsay looked down towards the end of her hospital bed and her smile widened when she saw the familiar shimmer at the end of her bed "hey Bubbie, how you holding up?" she asked with a croak, "you owe me Lindsay Quinn, I've had to sit with father fuckhead, for the last day and a half listening to him pray, tell you how much your missed and how he knows the lord will bring you back, blah blah fuckin blah" Bubbie finished.

Lindsay tried to chuckle but coughed instead, she winced at the pain in her ribs, "Casper" said  Andrew "don't you dare do anything to make her laugh, can't you see she is in pain".

Bubbie floated over to Andrew "listen up father fuckhead, don't you begin to tell me about" Lindsay cut him off "enough Bubbie let it go," Bubbie floated back to the end of her bed. "How are the girls?" Lindsay asked.

Andrew told her that they spent a night in the hospital being treated for dehydration, they are undergoing counselling through a service the church provides so are the parents, their mother tells me that they wake up with nightmares and asked for all teddy bears to be removed from their room. Lindsay was just about to ask about Martin when the doctor strolled in "well Lindsay Quinn, your awake" he said with a grin, "what's up doc" Lindsay said in her croaked voice.

Lindsay never got tired of that one, she laughed a little when she heard Bubbie groan "Jesus Lindsay, your going with that".

The doctor explained to her that her windpipe was bruised from the chokehold which explains her voice "that will come back in a couple of days once the swelling goes down," she had three broken ribs on her left side and two on the right, "it will all mend with time and rest" he finished.

He left her with strict instruction not to lift anything for the next week , minimal movement although getting up and walking around was a good idea and to make an appointment for a follow up with her regular doctor in a month. Andrew stood up, walked over to the doctor and shook his hand and said "thank you so much doctor, bless you for all your hard work".

The doctor nodded at Andrew and turned to leave the room, he staggered back a little from the woman who ran into him, "Oh shit, sorry" said Sara then she stopped, she had never seen a man with such beautiful eyes, such a deep blue and with his black hair, she shook herself then said "excuse me" and walked past him into the room, the handsome doctor turned towards Sara and said "all good, hopefully you bump into me again" and left the room.

Lindsay and Andrew both looked at Sara with big grins on their faces, "oh shut up" Sara said and they all laughed. "Hey Andrew?" asked Lindsay, " can you maybe see if I can get out of here today, I'd feel much better if I were at home" Andrew replied of course and left the room to talk to the doctor.

"So what happened?" Lindsay asked Sara looking around to make sure Andrew was gone. Sara explained that Martin Katz was most certainly dead, and that Lindsay fought him off, swinging the table leg at him in self defense and the swing landed in his temple, killing him instantly at least that was the cover story.

Sara explained to her fellow officers and any media that she followed up on a lead that led her to the farmhouse where the girls were being kept, she quietly snuck in and rescued the girls while the kidnapper was distracted in the back of the house, she wasn't expecting to find Lindsay there but was glad because she helped get the girls out, after I rushed them to the car.

I don't know what happened, which was the truth, Sara also told her that a uniform officer would be coming to take her statement, but that it will wait till she gets home. "What did they think the distraction was"? Lindsay asked
