Lindsay, Andrew and Sara, were on the last course of the 4 course meal Mark had prepared for them, Lindsay couldn't remember eating anything that tasted so good.
They started with a light spinach salad with the most marvelous homemade raspberry dressing, followed by bacon wrapped scallops, a beautiful stuffed pork tenderloin with roasted sweet peas and the most sinful blueberry crepes and assorted fresh fruit for dessert. All three of them could not stop talking about how good the meal was.
After the plates were cleared, Sara pulled out a folder and they started discussing the missing girls and what they know so far. Sara explained that since there was no ransom and no contact from the kidnapper that these girls were most likely going to be sold to someone overseas.
Sara knew that once the girls left the country they would be gone for good, Sara told them that time was running out and they had to get this solved, its been almost 3 days since the girls went missing and Sara doubted they had too many more days left before they were gone forever.
Lindsay was telling her and Andrew again what the spirit they met had said about the van and the piggy face with oversized glasses, Andrew told Sara he contacted the other pastors about anyone with the last name Katz and all he could find out that there was a Raymond Katz that attended the Millers Point parish, but no mention of a Martin Katz.
Sara got excited at the thought of the name, it couldn't be coincidence, how many people have the name Katz and lived in Millers Point, maybe this was his father or another family member, she wrote down the name and made a mental note to call the pastor of that church directly and have a chat with him. For the first time Sara felt like she was getting somewhere.
Lindsay paused a minute looking into space then nodded her head, and Bubbie wants me to mention the old house we passed but it was way to run down to hide anyone.
If you want I can take a closer look at the house, but I don't see how anyone could hide there but stranger things have happened, she listened to the air again, he also says that there is some guy standing in the kitchen doorway staring at us.. wait.. what? she aloud to Bubbie.
All 3 of them looked over towards the kitchen doorway and saw no one, "Is Casper poking fun at us again" Andrew asked Lindsay.
Bubbie floated over to wear Andrew was sitting and said "you can tell father fuckhead that if I wanted to make fun of him all I would have to do is mention the birthday party he went to in 9th grade where he got caught lying about making out with Cindy Wilson, and the next day at school he got teased about his lack of ability to score with a real girl so he makes it up".
Lindsay said to Bubbie in a scolding tone "you will not, you know why that happened and if you mention it I will find away to make you pay".
Andrew knew that they were discussing him and he had a pretty good idea what it was about, but he didn't care, high school was so far in the past he had real world issues to deal with. "It's ok Lindsay" said Andrew "Casper can say what he wants, if I don't like it I can always walk away, on my legs, attached to my human body, can you say the same Bubbie?" Andrew asked the thin air.
"OK, children, can we focus on the case please" Sara said with a hint of amusement in her voice. She loved watching the 3 of them interreact, she knew Bubbie and Andrew didn't quite get along but they both loved Lindsay and would always be there for her.
The three of them had been together for so long it was like watching an amusing family argument between siblings.
Lindsay said to Sara that she and Bubbie would take a drive to the outskirts of town and talk to the ones that float in the woods, "although, I'm not sure they would be of any help, there so many of them there and the dead aren't always in tune with the living world, sometimes they hover just between the two worlds unable to communicate in any form." she explained.
She was just about to ask Andrew if he wanted to come along for the ride when Sara interrupted her. "Uhhh guys, Bubbie was right, there is someone watching us". They all turned their heads in time to see a man duck beneath the front counter.
Lindsay turned to the group and said "Huh, seems like we have a shy admirer or a spy, either way, I'm on it". She got up and walked over to the counter with Bubbie floating behind her, she leaned over and stared at the man pretending to look for something on the ground.
"Excuse me, did you lose something or are you just trying to hid the fact that you were spying on our table" she said in a perfect casual tone.
The man stood up and Lindsay had to take a step back, she couldn't believe what she was seeing, this man was gorgeous, his light brown wavy hair came just to his collar and had the tousled look she always though suited men.
She stared into his beautiful brown eyes and thought how she could look at those eyes all day, she looked at his strong jaw line and the curve of his lips, she felt a tingle below her waist and had to tear herself back to reality.
The man looked at Lindsay with amusement as he watched her not so subtly check him out, "Are you checking me out right now"? he asked her in a confident tone, "cause if you are I could turn around for you let you see all my assets".
Lindsay felt her face flush and responded" I wasn't checking you out I just wanted to see what kind of man would spy on people while they're eating dinner."
He was just about to tell her that he was spying on her not her friends, it was her he was interested in finding out about and what might be hiding underneath the modest clothes she was wearing when Mark came out of the kitchen "Ah Lindsay, he exclaimed, I see you met my younger brother Oliver.
Lindsay turned to Mark and said "Oh, your brother, I didn't realize you had any siblings" she tried to say in a conversational tone. "Could you please tell your brother to stop staring at our table" she continued with a half smile on her face.
Oliver stepped in front of Mark and said "his brother is right here, and last I checked this is a free country, I can look wherever I want" he replied in a light tone. "Are you fucking kidding me" said Bubbie over Lindsay's shoulder, "look wherever he wants, whose is this clown"?
Lindsay tried to ignore Bubbie but he kept going on about how this guy Oliver is a creep and nosy, finally Lindsay had to walk away. She turned back to Oliver and said "I'd say it was nice to meet you Oliver, but that remains to be seen".
Oliver watched her walk back to her table admiring the view of her ass, he thought he saw her stop for a minute tilt her head, then seem to talk to the air. Ya, he thought to himself, I could get to know odd.
Lindsay was on her way back to the table when she stopped for a minute and turned to Bubbie and said " Damn Bubbie, you talk too much sometimes, I wanted to see if there was a reason he was staring at us and you just kept yammering on about what a creeper he is and blah blah blah".
Bubbie started to shimmer brightly, "ya right Lindsay, I could see you checking him out and it was obvious that he was checking you out, he's a drifter, I've seen his type before, hardly worth your time kiddo" Lindsay sat back down at the table only to see Andrew and Sara's amused looks on their faces, "So did you get our admirer's name?" Sara asked.
Lindsay explained that his name was Oliver and he was Marks younger brother and he seemed very childish (and extremely handsome with amazing eyes and kissable lips,) she thought this last part to herself.
After the bill was paid and the last of the dessert picked clean, the 3 of them started to head out, as they made their way to the door Mark and Dan were waiting to say goodbye, the gave all 3 of them big hugs and Lindsay, Andrew and Sara, thanked Mark for the special dinner and the amazing food.
They were just about out the door when Oliver called out, "Bye Lindsay, see you again real soon" Lindsay flipped her her hair over her shoulder looked back at Oliver and said "You wish".
