Bubbie floated back to the apartment in record speed, now more than ever he would always be at Lindsay's side he would insist on it. He came in and found Lindsay still sleeping and felt a calmness wave over him, he flashed to a memory of floating over her crib talking softly to her while she made her sweet baby cooing sounds he floated over her and made her the same promise he made to her the day she was born "I will always protect you Lindsay Quinn, you will always be safe with me" and floated over to the window waiting for Lindsay to wake up.
Lindsay woke up feeling rested and not as sore, she stretched slowly and waited for the sharp pains, but felt nothing but a dull ache she made her way over to her mirror and looked at the bruising on her neck, it had gone that yellowish green colour that signaled it was healing, she put on her fuzzy robe and her bunnies and made her way to the kitchen and said with a yawn "morning Bubbie". She looked over to the window and saw Bubbie shimmering as usual but she could feel that he was troubled, she made her coffee and headed over to him and asked "what do Bubbie?"
Bubbie wasn't looking forward to having this conversation but he promised no more secrets, he told her about going back to the woods to find Madeline but found the angry spirit fading away after being consumed by her, he explained how the sad shimmer indicated to towards town and how he consoled the female shimmer from the empty house as she faded out. He told her about the confrontation with Madeline at the graveyard and what was said he floated over to Lindsay and said "this is why I will be with you, all the time".
Lindsay didn't know what to say, she was angry that Bubbie would take such a risk after what almost happened to him last time, but he didn't lie to her about it and that said a lot. She walked over to her couch and sat down rubbing at her temples she looked over towards Bubbie and said "thank you for being honest with me, but please Bubbie don't go off alone again, I can't lose you, you have protected me and been there for me my whole life, I couldn't imagine being without you".
She stared at her coffee thinking about the angry spirit being consumed and couldn't help but feel bad for him, he must have suffered so much in life to be that angry and now he's gone for good snuffed out like a candle her heart hurt for the female spirit that was gone too, she never hurt anyone, Lindsay thought about all the shit that was happening right now and felt the urge to scream.
Bubbie watcher her agonize over the current situation and felt helpless, some protector I am he thought and floated back over to the window, he had to figure out a way to get rid of Madeline and now that she's destroyed her headstone he had to find a place of significance to her, some place she has a connection but where, Bubbie didn't know much about Madeline in her human life but maybe it was time to find out. He was snapped out of this thought by the ringing of Lindsay's phone.
Lindsay got up from her couch and walked over to her phone on the table, she saw the smiling dark haired man's picture as the phone rang and answered it "Sup father what a waste". She listened as Andrew talked about the cleaning crew that had arrived and that he needed to make himself gone while they clean and asked if they could do an early lunch so he could be back to the church for the workers to take their break and he wanted to make sure that they were being careful with the statues and scriptures, he told her that he had already talked to Sara and she was ok with it.
Lindsay explained that she could do that but she needed and hour to get cleaned up and message Oliver, when she hung up the phone she looked at the time it read 9:00, she picked up her phone messaged Oliver with the time change for lunch then went for a shower.
After she had showered and got dressed into her comfy jeans and a plain dark green t-shirt she looked at her phone and saw an emoji thumbs up text from Oliver, she looked at the time and called to Bubbie that it was time to go. As they drove to the Restaurant they talked about how they were going to break the news to Andrew and Sara that Oliver is now among the privileged few who know about Bubbie and what they can do, Bubbie and Lindsay agreed that a straight approach would be best and that they would understand.
They all got to the Restaurant at the same time and met out in the parking lot, Lindsay looked around for Oliver but didn't see him anywhere, as they walked in they waved to the fellow regulars and received their greetings from Mark and Dan, Mark gave Lindsay and extra squeeze and whispered in her ear "Oliver is so into you" he smiled at her.
They sat down at their usual table and Lindsay was about to text Oliver when he appeared from the kitchen with an apron around his waist and a towel over his shoulder, Lindsay saw him standing there and imagined him only in the apron and how she would like to do things under that apron, she shook out the thought and greeted him with a smile "you look dressed for brunch" she said with a playful smile on her face.
Oliver looked down at the apron and felt the towel on his shoulder, he looked at Lindsay with a pleased look on his face "what can I say your man's gotta work" he said. He took off the apron and removed the towel the slid in beside Lindsay and put his arm around her, he looked at her apologetically and said "I didn't just sit on Bubbie did I?"
Sara and Andrew looked at each other stunned then looked towards Lindsay, she greeted their stares with a sheepish smile and said "I told him about Bubbie, and surprisingly he's ok with it" she looked at Oliver as she said this and he gave her the slightest wink that made her blush.
Andrew shook his hand and remarked how it was nice for his ghost girl to have a boyfriend, especially someone who can accept everything that comes along with it. Once they had their food partially eaten Andrew started with the serious talk "so how do we find out who is possessed or what is able to do this kind of damage".
Sara told them that there hasn't been any missing persons report filed and that there has been no unusual reports at the station "are you sure someone's possessed and this witch spirit isn't just throwing things around like Bubbie did?". They all looked at each other and considered this possibility, Lindsay started to tilt her head slightly and began to nod.
"Bubbie says that she could be strong enough to do that, he was always under the impression that she was weak but now realized she may have been in that well for another reason and was hiding the fact that she was strong enough, but why?" Lindsay relayed this information and they all agreed that it made sense, if she was strong enough to leave the well then she was strong enough to cause that kind of damage they all concluded.
Oliver listened what was being said and found it hard to believe, a witch spirit wrecked the church, and was staying in a well but no one knows why, Bubbie has talked to this witch spirit and now they're going to try and get rid of it, the whole situation made Oliver's head spin, as he tried to digest everything he kept coming back to the same question and decided to ask it out loud "why that well?".
The table got quiet and Oliver thought, oops I fucked up, but then Sara spoke up "good question Oliver, we thought it was because she was feeding off the negative energy and fear from the Martin Katz situation but maybe there is a connection to the farmhouse, maybe that's also how she got strength". Lindsay looked in Bubbies direction and watched him pulse excitedly, they would have to discuss that later she decided.
As they finished up Andrew told them that he would go to the library and do some research on Madeline and see if there is any connection between her and the well or the farmhouse, Sara said she would keep listening on the police scanner for any unusual calls and also told Andrew that she has set up extra patrols to drive around the church, they all hugged goodbye and Lindsay watched Andrew and Sara drive off.
