The sun had finally come out.
The sky had been gloomy and dark the past few days, but that afternoon, it all finally cleared up. Baji drank the last of his pineapple juice and threw the empty can in the trash. The wind gently blew his curtain of black hair as he sat on a bench under the shimmering light of the day. He must have missed the sun that he didn't mind the heat burning his skin at all.
He turned his head towards the portruding door in the middle when it opened, and Takemichi appeared. The lad had a patch on his head and a bruised lip, looking even wearier than he looked earlier.
"Baji-kun," he said, holding the door's knob. "Chifuyu is awake."
Baji heaved a deep sigh as he followed the other guy down the stairs, heading to Chifuyu's room. The guy on the hospital bed immediately turned his head to them the moment he and Takemichi entered.
"Baji-san," Chifuyu said. "You're here."
"Been waiting for you in the rooftop."
Baji sat on a chair near the side of the bed, his eyes on his beaten up vice captain. Just like Takemichi, Chifuyu had bruises all over his face.
Yesterday, after receiving a call from him saying they were being chased by guys in Panthera, Baji immediately rushed out of Nika's house and drove his bike to the direction Chifuyu had told him. When he got there, the guys were gone. Instead, he found Chifuyu and Takemichi passed out in an alley, sprawled on the ground beside a huge garbage container.
"Wait--my bike?" Chifuyu looked at him, eyes worried. "Did they--"
"You just got beaten up and all you worry about is your bike."
"But you just gave it to me--"
"Tsk, it's fine. It was left in the bowling lounge's parking. Safe and sound." Baji raked his gaze to the bruises in his body. "How do you feel?"
Chifuyu heaved a sigh of relief before leaning his back to the pillow. His face twitched as he took a deep breath. "Better now."
It turned out that when Chifuyu, Takemichi, and Hakkai went bowling, they encountered a group of guys that happened to be from Panthera. One of the guys overheard their conversation and when they found out that they were in Toman, they immediately came for them. The three ran outside the bowling lounge as the guys chased behind. Hakkai got separated. Takemichi and Chifuyu went to the same direction, but were cornered in an alley by the guys in motorbike.
"They took my phone and when I tried getting it back, one of them twisted my arm," Chifuyu said. "Hell, I thought I was dying."
And now, here he was. His left arm was dislocated, thus it was casted and suspended on a blue arm sling over his shoulder. Takemichi's injuries weren't serious so he was fine. Hakkai got a few scratches but was fine too and was now resting at home.
"Baji-kun." Takemichi walked and sat on the other side of the hospital bed. "One of the guys was the one who burned Chifuyu's bike before. He mentioned something about a long-haired guy in Toman who beat him up in the streets and I think he's referring to you."
Baji's lips twitched, remembering the asshole from that day.
"What did they say?"
"They said they're coming." Takemichi looked straight at him. "And they will crush Toman."
"Yeah?" He scoffed. He was furious. "I wanna see them try."
Baji had heard of Panthera before. It was notoriously known in the delinquent world as one of the biggest biker gangs in Tokyo rooting from the neighboring city of Shinagawa. He had already told the incident to the rest of the gang's higher members last night after requesting for an emergency meeting. Panthera's a real deal and it wasn't something that Toman should just take easily especially that things were starting to get serious.
