What happened on that fateful night of June 19th was something I don't think I would ever forget.
It was a night of many first times. First time drinking a beer, first time getting drunk, first time having an actual party with friends. I almost had my first kiss as well, if only that loud bang on the door never came.
I was certain that I was drunk but not drunk enough to forget what happened. I clearly remember the moment we pulled from each other when the door opened, and I clearly remember how the person standing on the threshold stared at us in utter surprise. We were interrupted. Our lips were almost touching, but they never met. At that moment, I remember the feeling of disappointment gushing over me, but now that I sobered up, I found myself thanking the gods that it didn't happen.
It's almost been two days since the sleep over. The festival officially ended yesterday so now that classes have resumed, we were back to getting stuck in the classroom to listen to boring lessons. I was preoccupied the entire time, my head filled with thoughts of everything from that night. My mind wouldn't function straight. Sayuri and Hina trying to question me that time on recess wasn't helping either.
"Caught in 4k, bitch." Sayuri was standing in front of me with her hand on my table, the other on her hip. "You wanna say something in your defense, Nika Girl?"
The bell had just rung. Everyone was out in the cafeteria, but here's Sayuri and Hina taking advantage of the empty classrom to interrogate me.
"It was nothing," I said. "We just.. we just fell and--"
"Oh, come on." She pointed at her eyes. "Girl, my eyes are in 4k, I know what I saw."
Yes, it was her. She was the one who caught Mikey and I in the house. The moment the door opened and her gaze landed on us, she stood there covering her mouth uttering muffled, "oh my God!" repeatedly. It was so awkward I thought I would melt.
I just don't understand why it had to be Sayuri. I mean, at least it wasn't Kei or Emma. But it was impossible to fool her. I've been telling her that what she saw meant nothing but she wont believe me. Of course, she told Hina about it and now it's the two of them trying to make me talk.
Hina smirked. "I can't believe there's something going on between you and Mikey."
"Just what the hell is going on?" Sayuri added. "How did you do that?"
And then questions came flooding.
"Has he become your boyfriend without us knowing?"
"Are you trying to hit on each other or something?"
"Do you like him?"
"Is it something serious or you both were just drunk and horny?"Oh, my God.
"He's not my boyfriend, okay?" I sighed again. "It's.. it's impossible."
"But do you like him?"
I paused. The look on Hina's face was making me unable to speak and lie that I ended up just looking down, gulping.
"Oh my God!" Sayuri sat down too, covering her mouth. "Oh my freaking God, so you do like him?!"
I closed my eyes. I don't have any reason to lie to them. I don't have to lie to myself as well. The more I try to hide these feelings, the more they grow. I just couldn't think I could handle this without telling anyone. It's making me lose my head.
