"WHERE IS SHE?"
Startled, I looked up from the magazine I was reading which was doing a story on my kids, and how they should be Gap models. Glancing around the crowded waiting room I watched as Luke ran in, carrying Cooper and Griffin under his arms like footballs, while Mason stumbled along behind him in ridiculously high heeled shoes, holding Preston's hand.
His eyes scanning the room before landing on me, he ran over to where I was sat.
"Where is she?" he repeated.
"Oh hey Luke." I greeted icily, "Looking for someone?"
"My girl-ex....Charlie. Where is Charlie?"
"Getting a cast put on." I replied, "What are you doing here?"
"It's all over Twitter." He answered, setting the wriggling boys in his arms down, "What happened?"
"She broke her arm." I sighed, "It's not a big deal."
"NOT A BIG DEAL! She's hurt! Broken! That's not a big deal to you!?"
"It's just her arm." Mason spoke up.
"Mason." Luke groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose.
"Yeah?" she asked innocently.
Pulling his wallet out of his pocket, Luke removed a wad of cash and chucked it at her, "Go get coffee...tea...a juice box, just...go do something."
Standing on tiptoe she kissed his neck, the only part of him she could reach before flouncing away.
Sighing, Luke sat down in the chair next to me.
"What?" I asked.
"I can't." I replied, "I can't, deal with her. The chick is insane! I woke up this morning and she was...well riding me like a pony."
My eyes widening, I looked down at the kids who were playing rock, paper scissors with their feet.
"She's so immature." Luke continued, "Like I know I can come off as kind of... you know... simple, but she takes it to a whole new level."
"Well yeah." I muttered, "She's eighteen and in high school. You're twenty-two, what did you expect."
Sighing, Luke ran his hands down his face.
"You messed up man." I mumbled, "I don't know what happened between you and Charlie, but you messed up, big time."
Michael's Pov —
"So this is it huh?"
"Don't."
"It's true and you know it."
"Jess come on."
Sighing, Jess unbuckled her seatbelt and looked up at our house.
"Are the kids there?" she questioned.
"They're at Cal's." I mumbled.
Nodding slowly, she reached out and with a frighteningly skeletal hand pulled the car door open. Hurriedly getting out myself, I jogged around the back of the car and helped her out.
"Careful." I said gently, as she swayed slightly.
"I'm fine." She said quickly, forcing a smile, but like many of her smiles as of late, it didn't reach her eyes.
"Let's get you inside." I sighed, draping an arm around her and guiding her up the driveway and into the cool air conditioning of the house.
"God, it's freezing in here." She muttered.
