Bedimmed

THE NIGHT WENT ON AND EVENTUALLY, I WAS TOO INTOXICATED TO care about Alex. My thoughts concentrated on drowning everything and simply spending time with these two guys I enjoyed being around so much.

I walked out of the place, stumbling and stuttering about God knows what. Nick and Matt followed behind me, I took the lead to avoid being near Alex. I was more than known to the fact that if I was close to him I'd end up spoiling my very elaborate attempts to neglect him.

Just when I thought I had succeeded, I felt that familiar warmth aggressively make its way to my waist. I looked down at his large hands wrapped around my body like I was about to escape. He fixed his gaze on me, giving me a look only I could read. I understood the situation despite the current state my body was in,

''Out celebrating your big night, Elaine?'' I lifted my eyes to see where the voice was coming from. A man in a white shirt and black shorts stood a couple of feet away from us, holding a sizeable camera with both his hands.

''Yep,'' It seemed to be a difficult task to produce a more extensive response than that. I still slurred the small reply I'd given the man, showing me how inebriated I was. Alex's left hand gripped my waist just as I finished talking.

"By the way, you looked fantastic today." You had such a professional demeanor, you know. You acted as though you'd done it a thousand times. Fantastic" He smiled, and the flash of his device flashed off immediately as he did, reflecting itself on our bodies.

''Thank you'' I politely thanked him, placing my hand on my eyes in hopes for the effect caused by the intensity of the flash to wear off. Alex muttered something unintelligible under his breath, making me stare up at him for a moment as we walked to the car.

''What about you, Alex? You proud of your girlfriend?'' The man asked, walking backward as he still held his camera in his hands.

''Very proud, she knows I am. And I know how hard she worked for this'' Was his response. Those small yet meaningful words echoed through my brain for quite some time, tuning out the questions asked by the man, which Alex ended up answering.

''I see you're out with your friends too. Hey, guys'' The man greeted as he waved to them. I assumed they were walking behind us, but it all seemed like a blur to me right now.

''Hello,'' They both said in unison, followed by a drunken laugh. The man shot some more pictures of us walking until we reached our vehicle.

''Thank you guys, enjoy your night'' He said and then jogged to the parking lot. I gave Alex a look he understood very well. He freed my body in a dry manner I frowned at.
