𝐓𝐇𝐑𝐄𝐄 𝐃𝐀𝐘𝐒 𝐏𝐀𝐒𝐒𝐄𝐃, 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐌𝐎𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐒 in which I'd have to play the supportive girlfriend role during tour inched closer and closer. I attempted to make it seem dreadful as I packed my fourth bag, but the task seemed to be difficult.
Despite the awkwardness that would definitely flow between Alex and me after our last encounter, I felt a twinge of excitement to pretend to be his girlfriend again in public.
I placed all of my thoughts into this. Maybe that was why it became such a primary problem troubling my mind.
I now sat at the very uncomfortable airport chairs, waiting for our plane. Jamie sat next to me, going on about how excited he was to get back on stage after three years. I nodded but kept my eyes on the way Alex squinted his eyes and read the pamphlet in front of him.
My feet tapped against the ceramic, completely lost in his world. And before I knew it, we were standing up from our seats as they announced our flight.
I walked in front of Alex, avoiding him at all costs. We walked into the plane and sat down in our designated seats. I was thankful for my seat since it was located far from Alex. If far meant behind me.
Alex sat next to Matt and I heard him comment about this documentary he had watched last night about classic cars. I didn't have to look behind me to know that he was gesturing every word he spoke with his hands.
Nick, who sat next to me, turned around to jump in the conversation. He mentioned his favorite car, but I couldn't remember the name since it was in what I assumed was French.
I decided to lose myself in my recently acquired book, instead of hearing them go on about cars and other stuff. I made sure I bought a long book considering I had 14 hours of air travel ahead of me, accompanied by the awkwardness of being with Alex in the same plane.
And it had just begun...
The first three hours were fine. I ate some of the M & M's Nick carried in a bag and finished almost ten chapters of my book. Alex and Matt's conversations included almost everything one can think of. Which was pretty impressive considering how long they've known each other. It all seemed alright.
It was until the fifth hour that things got different. I was coursing the most interesting part of my book when I heard Matt whisper something in Alex's way. He made an unsure noise and I didn't mind that. Until I was a hundred percent sure that I heard my name.
