WHY DID HIS HATRED TOWARDS ME MAKE ME WANT HIM MORE? HAD I fallen into such a deep hole these were the consequences? I shook my head, wishing nothing more than to vanish as quickly as he had previously. I knew that if I stayed in this restroom any longer, it would get bizarre. It was quite tough to recover from his statements.
My heels clicked on the floor, and the sound was quickly muffled out as I opened the door and exited the room. The booming music invaded my ears, becoming completely deafening. Thankfully, no one's eyes were drawn to me. Mine, on the other hand, wandered through the crowd. Looking for the person whose hatred for me made me weak in the knees.
I took a long glance at a face I'd mildly forgotten over the course of my conversation with Alex. That face knew just how to get on my nerves. Her false smile obligated me to fake one as well. Her hand signaled me to come over to the small group she was part of. I sighed quietly, obeying her commands.
When I arrived, everyone's attention was drawn to me. Riley's anxious ones, in particular.I put on a calm face and motioned for her to do so. She accepted the gesture and nodded.I focused my attention on the other people who were staring at me. Alice grinned and cocked her head to one side.
"Elaine, where have you been for so long?" She inquired, her nasal voice annoying me to the core. I startled myself again with how quickly I concocted a falsehood. Had I been doing it so much recently that I'd mastered it?
''I just couldn't find the restroom'' I said and she simply nodded, noticeably careless for my motives.
I shivered when a cold hand rested on my shoulder. Turning around, I met Alex's eyes. He chuckled at the way I jumped. On his hand, he had a medium glass, filled with the liquor he loved the most. tried to come up with the ideal expression that would convey to everyone that I was in love with him in a subtle way. It wasn't really difficult.
''Hey gorgeous girl I hadn't seen you until now'' He smiled, making up a lie. I nodded and returned the smile, feeling his arms sneak around my waist. I felt Alice's gaze burning through me. Without my knowledge, I was aware of how much jealousy ached.
''Now you have'' I giggled and he did as well. With an edge, like it was usually coming from him.
He smiled and kissed my lips for a second, caressing my cheek when he pulled away. I always felt like I was flying when his skin made contact with mine in such an oblivious context.
