When Monday came, we just ate our food before I drove Dick to Clark's hotel. It was still early, so I knew that they would still be asleep. At least Lois would be, seeing as Superman liked to go to his Fortress in the early morning. Though, I wasn't sure if he was still doing that while he was in Gotham.
Thankfully waiting outside his hotel was the reporter. He gave us a smile as he walked up to us. He was currently wearing one of his many loose-fitting suits that surprisingly looked nice on him and matched his charming personality.
"Glad I stepped out." He laughed when he was within earshot of us.
I smiled and chuckled with him, opening the car door for my ward. Dick happily ran over to Clark, hugging his waist. The farm-boy picked the kid up, holding him carefully with a smile. The circus boy threw his hands into the air as he laughed happily. He looked so much like a normal, happy child.
"This is gonna be fun!" He cried.
We laughed at my boy, each of us ruffling his head. I then leaned down and kissed his head. He beamed up at me like the excitable child he was, which was cute.
"Behave and try not to jump out the windows this time." I quirked an eyebrow at him. He nearly gave me and Alfred a heart attack with that stunt!
The child gasped softly; a hand being placed on his heart as the reporter gave a jump.
"He tried to jump out of a window?" Clark shouted, his eyes wide.
"You weren't supposed to tell him!" The boy complained, pouting.
I laughed a little, shaking my head. Of course, he would be upset at not being able to surprise him. Which was why I gave the man a heads-up, even if the way would be considered inconvenient. I then focused back on the man in front of me.
"Don't worry, he won't do that now," He seemed to have relaxed at that, but only a little. I continued on, "I'll pay for your time too." The Boy Scout opened his mouth, most likely to deny the payment. I raised a hand to stop him. "He'll be a handful, I know that. Besides, this is sudden, so I will pay you."
Clark ran a free hand through his hair, a distraught look on his face. He opened his mouth, most likely trying to deny again. Yet, I only gave him a look. It wasn't my scowl, but it seemed to have a similar effect as he went quiet on that. I softened my look, giving him a gentle smile before finally leaving.
Once the pair were out of view, I sighed and drove off to my private jet. I really hate surprise meetings, it's not like I wouldn't show if they scheduled the damn thing! I shook my head, there was no need to get angry. I would hopefully be back before the night. If not, then I'll give Clark money for food.
It wasn't long before I was in the city for the meeting, being greeted by the very people I needed to have the meeting with. So, I pulled on my charm and greeted them. There were a few women in the group, which thankfully made it a little easier. Which hopefully would mean I get home earlier.
"I do apologize for making this meeting so suddenly." A brunette woman smiled to them.
We all just gave a smile back, nodding to her. I shifted some as I let my smile fall some.
"It's no problem, but let us get down to business, yes?" I allowed my face to fall into my more business-serious mode.
The woman smiled and nodded to me. We quickly got to business after that. The meeting was called to about forming new deals as the brunette had just taken over the company and wanted to change it for the better. It was a good company, but the last CEO had ruined its reputation.
I mostly stayed silent, letting her throw her pitch and tell us what her goals were. They were good goals, and she clearly knew how to use her looks to get the other men on her side. She had the hallmarks of being a good CEO, which I could get behind.
Then it came down to the deals that we had with her company. We discussed a few things that could've been beneficial for all of us. She had good ideas and the deals seemed much fairer than what they were originally.
"I think those are good."
Everyone looked at me, so I smiled to them. The others looked about them before smiling to her.
"I don't see why not. We can do a trial run of this new deal. Half a year maybe?" A blonde woman asked, leaning forward.
Glancing down at her paperwork, I saw she had a tape recorder playing. I did a quick over of her, coming to the conclusion that she wouldn't have been able to listen and write at the same time. Peering at the others, I saw brunet man had done the same thing and the others had written it down.
The woman smiled at that, happily agreeing.
"Yes, it-"
Abruptly, the office door was slammed open, which made all of us jolt. I had to remind myself that I wasn't in suit, which meant that I didn't have any of gadgets on me. I hated sudden noises. The frantic employee that had ran into the room soon ran over to the TV and turned it on.
Quickly, the room was filled with the news report from Gotham.
"Poison Ivy for the past hour has been attacking Central Gotham. Batman has not been seen, though Superman is at the scene, keeping her plant monster at bay." A reporter stated before showing what was happening.
True to their words, Superman was fighting one of Ivy's plants. He was doing good at keeping her maintained to a block, however there wasn't much he could do as she kept exploding some plant that was causing a pinkish-red smoke to form around her. It was good that he wasn't just rushing forward, especially since even I didn't know what that smoke was.
I couldn't believe she decided to attack when I'm not there! Damn it... And I didn't bring my suit to even attempt to escape and help him!
Suddenly, he flew through the smoke, tackling Ivy to the ground! And then he sucked up the rest of the smoke! That idiot! When I get back, I'm going to have to run tests on him! And give him a lecture!
"As you can see, Superman has finally put an end to Poison Ivy's terror. As wonderful as it is to have the Man of Steel help, where was Batman? And how would he handle this?"
The meeting room relaxed, everyone but me. Clark just breathed in some random smoke, I honestly thought I had gotten through to him to think! When I get back, I'll check on Dick and then I'll run tests on Superman. Honestly, I hope that smoke was nothing harmful, because if it was then I have no idea what to do. And that scares me a little.
