After returning home, Luke had made Ava sit down in the living room while examining the bruise Lewis had given her in more detail. It was slightly grazed, having a small cut along the side of it. He quickly disappeared into the kitchen, returning mere moments later with a few plasters and wipes. As silly as it looked, he wiped it with an antibacterial wipe and gave her a small little plaster over the cut, which made her giggle.

Luke had always been especially soft and caring towards Ava, so this wasn't out of the norm for him.

Rosie had come inside from the garden, upon hearing Luke and Ava enter the house. She rapidly expressed severe hatred towards Lewis once Luke explained what had occurred at school, stating that she would 'annihilate' Lewis if he touched Ava again.

Luke didn't have the heart to remind her that Lewis was double her size.

After making sure Ava was alright, Rosie sauntered back into the garden to enjoy the sudden upsurge in heat they had been receiving lately. After giving Ava a smile and a small hug, Luke watched her head out to join Rosie in the garden and sunbathe.

Given all that had happened to him recently, what with the meteor in the woods and fighting Lewis, Luke felt super exhausted and considered going to bed for awhile until he saw a note pinned to the fridge haphazardly.

Dragging his weary bones over he plucked the note off the fridge and took a gander at it.

Luke and Rosie,

Me and your father will be away on work business for a few weeks, it isn't avoidable I'm afraid. We'll make sure shopping is delivered when needed and the bills are paid. (P.S. Rosie, please look after your brother.)

Love, Nora

Luke found it ironic that she mentioned herself by name but not their dad.

He left the note on the fridge after reading and retreated to his room. The sound of his shoes hitting each step of the stairs sounding faraway. He wasn't exhausted, he was absolutely shattered.

It honestly felt as if his body would shut down the second he laid on the bed, however as soon as he shut his door behind him he heard a voice that didn't belong to Rosie nor Ava.

"Luke Wilson, we need to have a chat."

Luke literally jumped out of fright and fell into his wardrobe door, making a thud noise in his wake.

He looked up and saw a girl, she looked around his age with silvery white hair that went past her shoulders and had loose curls at the bottom. Her skin was slightly pale but not too much.

Luke had too many questions formulating in his head, who was this girl? How did she get into his house? Is this Rosie and Ava's friend?

The girl wasted no time and sat down on his bed as if she was at home.

"My name is Brooke Evington. I'm from a parallel world to this one, and I'm here to retrieve the artifact you stole."

Her voice had been steady and calm, but Luke felt a weird sense of hostility from her.

'Liar. Parallel worlds are a myth, a conspiracy theory at best.'

He still hadn't responded, at least not verbally. Brooke cleared her throat and continued.

"In my world, superpowers and abilities are common, with ninety-eight percent of humanity having them. That meteor artifact you found, it contained powers from my world. Now give it to me before I have to use force."
