Silence.
The only thing that was running through the arena at that moment. 'Lewis' had just been revealed to be a girl in disguise. Based on the crowds reactions, none of them had been privy to this information either.
Luke quickly waved his hand and watched as his sword, Adamas, faded out of sight. His movement had brought the announcer back down to earth.
"WITH THIS NEW DEVELOPMENT, THE CHAMPION LOSES BY DEFAULT, LUKE WINS!!!!"
Luke could see Brooke and Rosie's relieved looks in the crowd, meanwhile everyone else looked pretty disgruntled that no more blood was spilled. Resolving himself to ask Brooke about who the girl was later, he left the arena and headed back to the girls.
As he ran back towards them, he was met halfway by a tear-stricken Rosie, she smacked him fiercely before breaking down and hugging him.
"OW! What was that for!?"
Instead of getting a response, Rosie just squeezed him tighter. He ended up smiling slightly and hugging her back.
Brooke waited until the siblings were separated before clearing her throat.
"We need to collect that element. You won, so it should be at the desk waiting for you." She looked exhausted. Luke partly worried that she was stressing herself over his well-being.
"THIS WAS RIGGED!!!"
"I AGREE!!"
"WE GOT SCAMMED!"
A bottle suddenly hit Luke in the back of the head. The crowd had jumped up and started complaining and booing, seemingly upset over the thought that this was all a set up and rigged.
"We need to go! Now!" Brooke grabbed Rosie and Luke's arm, but Luke was quicker and pushed her away.
"We don't don't the element yet! I'll get it just stay here!!" With that, he ran off towards the front enrollment desk. The tapping noise of his shoes hitting the linoleum floor were drowned out by the screaming chorus of the crowd behind him. The front desk was just ahead of him now, just a few more steps...
"HEY! I'M-" He stopped just short of the desk and doubled over, taking short and quick breaths. "I'm the champion?? I wanna claim my prize!" He tried sounding confident, but he probably came off as rude.
Getting no response, he looked back up to the desk to see that the manager had ran off after seeing Luke.
"Huh, weird. Dammit! Where's that element..."
Bending over the desk, he scanned the back and saw nothing even close to a trace of elemental energy. It wasn't like he knew what he was looking for to be fair.
The screaming from the crowd started to grow louder.
"LUKE!!! RUUNNNNNN!!!"
Luke swivelled around on his feet to see Brooke and Rosie sprinting full speed towards him with an angry hate mob chasing them. He didn't even have time to ask questions before the girls grabbed one arm each and dragged him down the hall.
"I'm teleporting us now, get ready!"
Brooke's necklace started to glow green while they were running. They suddenly hit the double doors of the entrance that were padlocked shut for the night in case a competitor tried backing out early, and the mob began closing in.
"OH COME ON YOU STUPID PIECE OF JUNK!" Brooke screamed at her necklace.
Rosie buried her face in Luke's shoulder while he stared ahead in disbelief. His hand subconsciously found Rosie's and tightened around it, he wasn't surprised that she squeezed it so hard it went numb.
