Staring directly at the naked girl who had presented herself, Rosie had several questions flying through her mind with little to no insight on how to ask them. Typically, if a woman presented their naked body towards you, the knee-jerk reaction would be to look away and apologise profusely, however none of them had done so yet.
This could be viewed as disrespectful, but Rosie would call it more shock then disrespect.
"I asked if I could help?" The girl's voice was soft and giggly.
Damien had finally come to his senses and covered his face. He felt extremely uncomfortable.
"Where are we?" After calculating the probability of this girl being dangerous and realising it was stupid, Rosie managed to break the silence.
"You don't know? Hehe, you're in the Palace of the underworld!!"
That definitely sounded like somewhere Brooke would've been taken. With no more context given than 'underworld', one would assume their location was Hell itself.
"C-Can you please put some clothes on!?" Damien's voice was unsteady.
"Oh? But I always look like this!!"
Rosie wondered if everyone here was naked, or whether this girl was simply nuts. Putting this to the back of her mind she reasserted herself to the mission.
"We need to find Luke Wilson, he's my older brother. Also, have you seen a girl named Brooke Evington?"
The naked girl blinked several times in quick succession. It was reminiscent of morse code.
A small gateway made out of shimmering lights opened behind the naked girl, and through it came a man in a suit. Greenish-Blue hair covered his forehead and a pale skin that looked devoid of any blood vessels.
"Ahaha! So we have more visitors? Just like those insects earlier. Lily! Who are these people!?" The man barked at Lily in a condescending manner like he was talking to dirt.
Lily flinched in response but her face still sported a wide grin.
"Hey! You said there were others here earlier, who??" Rosie cut Lily's response off before it came out of her mouth.
"Ah. The brown haired one with the sword. And, that....nevermind." The man's temple seemed to pulse angrily during that pause.
Before Rosie could say anything further, she was shoved to the side by Ava who had seemingly hit her wits end with worry.
"That's Luke! Where is he!? Tell me!"
"Amaris...ple-"
Lily had begun to plead with Amaris, however a loud Smack sounded through the halls as she fell to the ground, her nose gushing blood from the impact of Amaris's fist.
This man was obviously unstable and abusive. Lucille had already deducted the reason for Lily's nakedness, which she seemed to think was obvious. If she never wore clothes then he would be more scared to abuse her physically as it would get observed by others.
As of right now, however, he didn't seem to care about leaving marks upon her flesh.
"Amaris...I- I love you!!" Lily squeaked out through tears.
The thing that struck Lucille as odd was that Lily's smile hadn't disappeared even for a second. She almost felt scared to imagine that this girl had been brainwashed by Amaris and had convinced herself that she loved him despite what he put her through.
"Shutup, freak!" Amaris spat.
"I ASKED YOU A QUESTION!!"
Ava shocked everyone by screaming at Amaris. Her face was also tear stricken, but she wasn't smiling like Lily. In fact, Ava looked fuming. Rosie had never seen her best friend like this.
Amaris took very slow steps towards her, almost in a taunting manner.
"Who do you think you are? Raising your voice against someone of my status?!"
Ava didn't back down, nor did she even blink. When her friends were in danger, she was quite possibly the most unstoppable force in the world.
"I said answer my question! Where is Luke??"
Amaris swallowed hard, almost like he had something stuck in his throat that needed pushing down. Was he scared of Ava's attitude? His hands had balled into fists. Small beads of sweat covered his forehead. In his mind, he was under the assumption that they were also from this world, in which case he knew their powers would overwhelm him in a fight.
He didn't realise the only one who had any ability among them was Ruby, whose power wasn't even tailored towards combat.
"You told them of the boys from earlier, Lily? Tch. Bad girl, that'll get you punished later..." His words were dripping with venom. "Yes. Those boys you want? I killed them both."
He stared across at Ava with no remorse or emotion on his face. They had no idea he was lying to get to them and provoke a response.
Ava choked on a small sob before shaking her head rapidly, "NO, YOU'RE LYING!!"
"By all means, I can bring both of their broken bodies to you for inspection? I'm not a monster after all."
Ironically, Amaris was exactly what he stated he wasn't.
Ava's eyes gushed with more tears, her cheeks grew red, her knees felt weak. She couldn't comprehend either of the boys being dead. It wasn't possible. Kasper had been like her brother growing up. And Luke, well he was...
"I-I don't believe you! Stop playing games and give me Luke back!!" Her voice had cracked and wasn't as strong anymore. Amaris was slowly getting to her.
"Would you like to know how much he begged before his death? Would you like to know the pure despair and horror on his face as I took his life?" His face was now bright with joy, the corners of his face upturned in a sickening smile.
"SHUT YOUR MOUTH!!!"
The response wasn't from the crying Ava, in fact it came from behind her. Rosie looked furious, and her eyes were shining with a weird gleam. She raised her arms and clenched her fists, her nose gushing blood simultaneously.
Ruby looked on in horror, she could only assume Amaris had launched some sort of attack on her internal organs. Ava was almost at her breaking point, not knowing what to do. Damien and Lucille were in too much shock to even process this new development.
A dark wisp appeared above Amaris, like a portal of sorts. From it, a gargantuan black tendril made of an unknown substance came crashing down towards Amaris. The tendril was also sporting several shining silver spikes all over, it resembled a meat grinder.
The tendril wrapped around Amaris, slashing his skin open and tearing into him. His screams filled the air. Everyone but Rosie and Lily instinctively covered their ears.
Once it had him in its grasp, the tendril squeezed even harder, digging the spikes further into his body. Rosie's fists had clenched harder too, almost like she was mimicking- no, like she was controlling the tendril. Her nails began digging into her palms and drawing blood.
"AGHHHHH!!" Rosie screamed and fell to the ground, her nose and ears had blood seeping out of them.
The tendril immediately vanished, dropped Amaris's mangled body to the ground with a Thud.
Rosie had fallen unconscious, and after a moment of sheer panic, Ruby dashed to her side and tried to locate a pulse.
Damien was making sure Lucille was okay, and Ava had covered her face in her knees and was sobbing hard.
Lily had slowly crawled over to Amaris's side and poked at his body a few times, until she realised he was dead. She felt a strange feeling that was unknown to her.
Luke and Kasper both rounded the corner and stared at the scene ahead of them, their friends had somehow arrived and were looking worse for wear. Luke's eyes saw Rosie's body bleeding and his whole world froze. Questions could come later, because seeing his sister in this state made his heartbeat stop momentarily.
