Despite being upset with Luke and still in emotional turmoil over her best friends passing, Lucille had done her best to stay by Rosie's side the entire time that the gang had been at Eldiya.
She had requested that she study at the hospital and even requested to take time off school, thankfully her teachers were understanding and allowed this, given the fact that her friend was in a coma it was understandable that Lucille would want to be by her side.
The one thing that hadn't really made sense to the redhead, wasn't the fact that they were securing elements from different realities, nor the fact that they had travelled across parallel worlds. It was the fact that Rosie's parents were absent during all of this.
Luke had said they were away overseas for work business. Even so, the news of Rainwood's terrorist attack should of reached them by now. Lucille had considered the possibility that they just didn't care, but that was a factor she found too upsetting to dwell on.
"Perhaps I was too hard on Luke..." She murmured while doing a crossword puzzle.
While she preoccupied herself thinking on what could be her next word in the puzzle, the brunette girl beside her started to stir slightly.
Lucille almost didn't believe her eyes as she saw the girl shift in her peripheral vision. Checking twice to make sure her eyes weren't playing tricks on her, she quite literally toppled off of her armchair, and dropped her crossword puzzle in the process.
"NURSE!!! NURSE!!" Lucille didn't quite know why she was screaming. Excitement perhaps.
As if answering her call, a nurse swiftly stepped into the room looking ready to fight off an attacker. Instead, she glared at Lucille thinking the girl was wasting her time.
"It's Rosie, she's waking up I think!!" Lucille said breathlessly.
The nurse drew closer and looked at Rosie, then over to the machines she was hooked up to.
"It looks promising. I think she may just make a full recovery. I must say, I've never seen someone come out of a coma this fast." The nurse stated with a tone of wonder while she stared at the screens awestruck.
"Mmm." Rosie mumbled as her eyes half-opened.
"ROSIE!!" Lucille wrapped her arms around the brunette and smiled warmly.
"Careful, she is still delicate!" The nurse said crossly before leaving the room to get medication for Rosie to take.
Rosie took a moment to glance at her surroundings and gather enough strength to formulate a sentence. She had no way of knowing how long she had been in this hospital, nor did she know where her family and friends were if not beside her.
"Where... Luke?" She managed to groan out. Her voice was scratchy, like a rough violin that hadn't been used in a while.
Lucille quickly jumped to her feet and dashed to the plastic cups in the halls that were placed near the water fountains. She felt somewhat bad for not answering Rosie's question immediately, but the girl's health mattered more at the current juncture.
Her shaky fingers wrapped around the cup on top of the stack and flipped it the right way up, placing it under the tap and letting the ice cold water fill to the brim. She had no way of contacting any of the others and telling them the news that Rosie was finally conscious. Lucille knew that contact to Earth Zero from their own world wasn't possible because after Damien had passed, she had tried texting him numerous times to vent about her emotions, only to find the messages couldn't reach the recipient.
'Stupid girl' Lucille scolded herself after realizing how overly attached to Damien she was.
The thing to bring her back to reality was the freezing cold water now pouring out over her fingers and into the sink, the cup now completely overflowing.
