Brooke's face was horrific after Lucille had bustled her way in and claimed to know about their secrets. Half of her wanted to go and throttle Luke for telling strangers, but his nonplussed expression lead her to believe he hadn't told this girl anything.
"Wait, you're from the library, you were the one watching me!"
Lucille didn't react to this. Damien however stared at her in shock.
"Watching him? Lucy, why??"
"Because that was clearly the author trying to get my attention with the titles of the books he was reading."
Again, the room fell silent. Not only had Lucille just referenced her stalking being the same as an introduction chapter in a book, but she had said it so sanely that it was actually scary.
"OKAY! Crazy lady can go now, we have business to talk about!" Brooke pushed herself in-between Lucille and Luke.
"Crazy?" Lucille looked genuinely puzzled.
"Wait isn't she right though? That's what I was told, you know we have some top secret mission thingy and Luke had powers or something." Kasper's words made Brooke stare straight at Rosie, glaring daggers into the smaller girl.
"Hey! I didn't tell him to blurt it out like that!" Rosie defended.
Lucille clapped her hands together, "Case closed then. Tell me more."
"While you're at it why don't I tell the whole neighbourhood?!" Brooke sounded very annoyed.
"Mhm, that's a good idea. More people helping means a better chance of success." Lucille's response did NOT help Brooke's mood.
Even though the cat-like girl wasn't very pleased about it, she relented and let Luke describe what had happened to Lucille and Damien seeing as they already knew half of it because of Kasper.
Lucille had taken in every word and started writing notes. Damien seemed very lost and was constantly pinching himself to reassure that this wasn't some fever dream.
After the entire explanation was laid out on the table, Luke had excused himself to the bathroom for a moment. Lucille sat back in her seat and stared at the wall as if in deep thought. Damien looked as if he'd lost brain cells while trying to understand what was happening.
"So, our goal is to find these elemental source thingys and have Luke absorb them, yeah?" Rosie double checked out loud.
A loud "Mhm" was the response she received from Brooke. But before she could ask anything else, Brooke had vanished from the room.
Lucille was muttering to herself about how this was "The first arc starting up" which left everyone in complete disarray as to what on earth that implied.
Kasper decided to pull out the icebreakers and calm the tense atmosphere down a notch. He pulled out a deck of cards and started shuffling.
"Come on, newbies. We gotta get to know you better!" He said encouragingly.
"Maybe this'll be a filler chapter..." Lucille sounded disgruntled however her face showed no signs of it.
==================================
The reason behind Brooke's sudden disappearance in the Wilson household was due to her reality warping necklace bringing her home. She had set it to pull her back when the component she was working on was prepared for field testing, and it was finally time.
She carefully slid and Climbed around her mess of a room. It wasn't messy mess, it was mainly parts and electronics she had been putting together in order to build devices that would help Luke and the others on their journey.
The device she had recently been working on however was a weird one.
Gripping the hilt encrusted with a sky blue diamond material, she held it at arms length and brandished it for testing purposes.
"This'll be perfect for him!"
Her necklace started to glow a light green and she clicked it once with her thumb, programming it to take her back to Luke's world, component in hand.
==================================
The kitchen table now had cards strewn across it, dealt by Kasper in the hopes that everyone would relax and play cards together. Rosie eyes the table suspiciously as if one of the cards would bite her. Ava opted out of playing and spoke with Rosie about girly stuff instead. Damien was the only one who actually seemed up for playing, with Lucille showing next to no interest either.
"Aw man where's Luke and that cat girl? This is boring without them!" Kasper exclaimed as he threw his hand of cards down.
"Luke went to the bathroom." Lucille instantly replied, however she showed no care for Brooke's whereabouts.
As she had said this, Luke had just returned from his bathroom detour, but instead of playing cards it seemed fate bad other plans for him. A silver haired girl with cat ears appeared beside him and pulled him into the living room without a word.
"Hey!!-" His mouth was covered by Brooke's hand, she was surprisingly close to him.
"Shhhh, they'll hear you.." Brooke whispered quietly.
"What's the issue with them hearing us?" Without meaning to, he matched her pitch perfectly.
Brooke ignored this question and gestured to the spot next to her. Luke looked over and his jaw dropped, there against the wall was a sword, but not just any old sword, it's blade gleamed blue and white metal while it's hilt was encrusted with diamonds and gems. In short, I looked too perfect to be real.
"I want you to have this. It's from my world, and it possesses abilities to bond with the users soul. Once bound, it'll hide its presence meaning you don't need to carry it around. However, if you're in trouble merely call out its name and it'll manifest in your dominant hand. I really don't want you to have to shed blood over getting these elements into the new artifact, but, if it comes to it, I'd rather you be safe..."
Luke didn't know how to respond. Brooke was being so open and caring towards him suddenly. He gripped the hilt of the sword without question, knowing that he trusted this girl with his life whole heartedly. She had earned the right to lead him to the ends of the earth of it was for the greater good.
The sword glowed brilliantly before turning into blue smoke and vanishing from his grip.
"The process is complete. Its now bound to you. To make sure we got it right, call out its name, Adamas."
Luke felt very stupid for a moment before shaking it off and clearing his throat.
"Er..Adamas!"
Nothing happened.
Luke sighed and closed his eyes, but felt something thrust itself into his hand. The feeling was hard yet somehow comforting. He opened his eyes and saw the blade from earlier in his grasp. Brooke looked delighted and clapped.
"Now, to stow it simply simply wave your free hand as if saying goodbye." She instructed.
Luke did as he was told and Adamas disappeared in smoke again.
"Now, if we run into trouble in the future, you can defend yourself. There's more I'd like to tell you but that can come later. Because guess what? I've just received the source for one of the elements we need to go absorb. Get ready, I'll tell the others!" Brooke bolted from the room and left Luke stood there.
He looked back at his hand that had just been holding Adamas, he felt a surge of anxiety and excitement well up within him. His life had changed so drastically so quickly, and yet, he wouldn't change a single thing.
