Luke and Sophie had formed a new friendship and agreed to take down the labs horror fuelled experiments. While they hatched a plan of action, Luke brought his new friend to his current home away from home.

It was a small derelict warehouse away from most of the civilised areas in town. Rundown and abandoned, it looked like a dive, but once Luke climbed in through the window and Sophie followed, her eyes shone wider than almonds.

The shoddy and cracked walls were replaced with posters, and spots of paint here and there. A few couches and recliners weeks dotted about, with the centerpiece being a TV on a stand with a rug and big sofa in front. A small kitchen side with a kettle and refrigerator. Sophie's jaw dropped even further.

"I-I- how...?"

"Hm? Oh, well...I kinda found most of these in a skip. The TV I stole, yeah."

Sophie didn't care, this looked like heaven to her. She had never had a roof over her head, let alone electronics, furnishing, etc.

"Hey! We planning this or what?" Luke called over to her.

She quickly shook her head and skipped over to him.

"So, these other kids, they a problem?"

"Well, I'm not sure. See, we weren't really hanging out in our free time."

Luke sighed, clearly this wasn't what he wanted to hear.

Sophie thought for a moment before a memory struck her.

"Oh! I remember that one of the boys had some type of water power, and the other had something to do with ice, I think..."

Luke's face brightened and he clapped his hands in relief.

"Great! Your pyrokinesis completely counters them then! Wait...didn't you say there were three other experiments?"

"Mhm. I never met the third, although I think it was a girl. I wish I could help more.."

"Don't be stupid, you've done more than enough. We now have a huge advantage and the element of surprise."

Luke started gathering supplies for their trip and filled it all into a backpack. The contents included flashlights, food, water, wire cutters, first aid kits, and some other stuff he had managed to steal or salvage from his time on the streets.

Sophie leaned away for a moment and was drawn to the sofa in front of the TV, she couldn't help but feel jealous, she'd always wanted a proper home for herself and this looked perfect to her. She considered asking if she could stay with Luke once this was over, but that seemed quite weird given the fact they had only known each other formally for about five hours.

The furniture itself looked warm and cosy, the rug on the floor in front of the TV had small patterns and spirals on it, it looked like the type of rug you'd see a cat sprawl out on in front of a warm fire in the winter. The TV itself was around fifty inches wide, it was hooked up to some wiring that Sophie could only guess lead to a satellite. How Luke had managed all this by himself was beyond her.

Looking at the posters on the wall again, she could faintly recognise some of them as TV shows and bands she had heard of when walking past groups of teens on the streets. She had always wanted to go to a music concert or watch TV, but her life hadn't really offered that opportunity to her.

Luke glanced up from his packing and saw his new friend in awe of what he had done with the place.

"You can sit down and watch TV if you'd like? I'll make you some coffee."

Sophie felt gratitude and a warm fuzzy feeling she couldn't quite describe flood her whole being.

"No no, it's okay!!"
