It had been three days since Brooke had ambushed Luke in his bedroom and revealed information about the artifact and what her agenda was. Luke had been walking on eggshells the whole time, he kept expecting to see a silver haired girl with cat ears pop up around every corner.

Rosie had noticed his weird shift in demeanour since Brooke's visit, although he still hadn't actually mentioned Brooke to the younger girl.

Over the last few days Luke had been spending alot of time in the library, reading up on science and parallel worlds, whether it be fiction or non-fiction.

His best friend Kasper had noticed this and began spending his lunchtimes with Luke in library reading the same material. Even though Kasper had no idea why Luke was doing it, he found that he had a large interest in this topic and rather enjoyed their library trips.

On the third day since Brooke had visited, Kasper and Luke were both spending time in the library during lunch as usual, when Kasper brought something to Luke's attention.

"Psst!! Hey!" He was whispering and prodding Luke's shoulder.

"Hm?" Luke barely looked up from his book.

Kasper nodded over to their right, "That girl keeps staring at you, do you know her?"

Luke finally looked at where Kasper was indicating and saw a elegant looking girl with a large book under her arm. She was wearing a dress and looked very librarian like.

"Never seen her before..."

Luke carried on reading while Kasper kept sneaking glances at this girl, wondering what was so interesting about Luke all of a sudden.

==================================

It had now been exactly a week since Brooke's visit. Luke started to think he'd made the whole thing up in his head. He hadn't slept for four days and he hadn't been eating, his days were spent reading profusely and searching up everything he could on the Internet. He had even started skipping school.

Rosie had been so swamped with exams that she hadn't had much time to look after her brother, which was precisely the reason she tasked Ava with checking on him. Of course, after the shy and timid girl received a text indicating that Luke hadn't been looking after himself, she raced over the road and hammered the door down.

After a few moments, a very worn down and tired looking Luke answered the door. His eyes had heavy bags under them and his posture was slumped slightly. His face even looked pale. Ava began to panic albeit only a little.

"Luke...why aren't you eating or sleeping? Don't lie, Rosie told me everything."

Luke sighed.

"Of course she did..."

"I can't see you like this...come here." In a very un-Ava like fashion, she wrapped her arms around him and hugged him tightly.

For a moment, Luke resisted, but he didn't have the strength to fight back and fell into the embrace, grateful for the warmth.

Ava pulled him into the house properly and shut the door, leading him up to his room and laying him down on the bed. She sat on the end of the bed and held his hand until he fell asleep.

==================================

The sweet smell of food wafted into Luke's room. His eyelids fluttered open and he noticed Ava was missing. In his tired state earlier, he hadn't really thought about the fact that Ava had put him in bed, but now thinking about caused him to flare up in embarrassment.

Checking the time notified him that it was 7PM, meaning that was probably Rosie cooking.

"Wait, Rosie can't cook.."
