Avery's POV
The next day I met up with Emily and Marisa in the gym. Marisa just sits in the bleachers reading seeing as she has a free period and isn't exactly in this class. But me and Emily are in our gym clothes, that consist of a white shirt with our school name and green gym shorts. The teacher had us do some simple warm ups before having a few volleyball games with a few of the students. I head over and sit next to Marisa between set's, to fix my laces before jumping back into the game, while Emily just relaxes complaining that the warm ups were exhausting enough and that she participated enough today. Sometimes it's hard to believe she was already accepted to be on the cheer squad of the college she chose already, she has no motivation for exercise whatsoever.
"Hey!" We hear someone yell causing all of us to look up to see what's happening. "Stop it, I know you're doing it on purpose," Elizabeth snaps, she's the German exchange student.
"I don't know what you talkin 'bout but I'd watch that mouth of yours," Justine snides.
For some reason she thinks she's better than everyone and it shows. She's notorious for being a bully and rumors say she stabbed someone at school during a fight last year. Not sure how true it is, but I wouldn't put it past her.
"But you do know, you're aiming for me on purpose," Elizabeth steps up to her from the other side of the net and holds her ground.
"You better watch it freshmen, before you get hurt." Justine grabs the net leaning forward to get in her face. The only thing I can think of is that it's a foul and I hope she doesn't rip the net pulling on it like that.
"If that was supposed to intimidate me, then you're mistaken," Elizabeth basically scoffs at her.
"You don't know who you're talking to, Freshie," Justine growls out slowly.
"And you clearly don't know who you are talking to," Elizabeth says confidently, you can clearly hear her German accent.
"Enough Ladies, Break it up," The teacher approaches, finally stepping between them. "Get back to the games. Let's go!"
I stand up and glanced over at the two, I see Justine giving a death glare towards Elizabeth. But the ginger is just shrugging it off, acting as if nothing ever happened. It almost makes me want to laugh out loud, because of the blatant disregard she has towards Justine. Once Gym was over and after changing we headed to the slightly crowded lunchroom. I don't even eat an actual lunch at school, I prefer to just wait till I'm at home and snack during school instead.
Marisa sits with her nose still in the book she was reading in the Gym, lightly snacking on her pretzel goldfish. I notice there is a light buzz between the students and see Justine sending a glare towards our side of the lunch room. I look behind me and see Elizabeth with two boys that I recognize from the sophomore grade, one is on our Lacrosse team not sure about the other one.
"What is everyone talking about," I ask Kyle, who is sitting at the table behind me, he's also on the Lacrosse team.
"Apparently Justine has a bone to pick with some freshman, claims she's gonna fight her after lunch," He shrugs.
"Mmm," I hum back, with a slight nod. I look over at Emily and she shrugs, continuing to drink her sweet tea.
After a while the buzz about Justine's fight fades away and everyone goes back to their own lives again for the rest of lunch period including us. Once the bell rings we make our way over to the Art room for Drawing class, but loiter in the hall before class starts. I lean against the wall and pick at my nails while Emily blabbers about something girly that I have no interest in while Marisa mindlessly hums along also not paying attention while still reading her book.
