Marisa's POV
Today is not a better day. I'd almost argue it's worse than yesterday. Today is day 2 of Avery deciding it to be a good idea to act like a complete fool. Only now she's getting bolder, and that's not a good thing. Today I heard her swear rather excessively in front of a group of teachers and pretty much insult her entire volleyball team right in front of them. Plus Emily isn't helping the situation either, she's only progressively making things worse. From Emily's point of view it probably is an ample opportunity seeing as Liz is just about doing everything in her power to avoid Avery and Avery is acting exactly how Emily has always wanted her too. Just another dumb arrogant jock who thinks they are our thoroughbreds. One big problem with that ideology for Avery, her parents aren't exactly supportive of her and this is just one big elaborate act.
For however long that I've known Avery, not once has she pictured herself as better than someone else. But here we are listening to Avery talk about how great she is to anyone with at least one working ear and the patients to listen to her bullshit.
The one I feel the worst for is Liz, she is really getting the ass end of Avery's nonsense. But I have to hand it to her. She is handling it rather well for the most part, at least as well as someone can anyway.
I'm just sitting with Liz and her friends during lunch again since Avery wants to play popular and hang out with the jocks while Emily is glued to her side, or more like lap. I immerse myself in my book and keep my head down getting exhausted with everyone, even the teachers coming up to me asking for me to handle Avery every other hour. At least at the moment Avery isn't my responsibility.
One of Liz's classmates comes up and taps Liz on the shoulder gaining her attention, she pulls her earbuds out and turns to face the girl. Seeming to recognize the girl, Liz smiles gently at her and gets up to talk to her after they step away from the table after noticing the girl's hesitation towards my presence. Look I might have a mean looking face but am I really that intimidating? I mean come on, I'm nice, I swear.
Liz stands there talking with the girl I quickly learn is a very shy and timid person based on her demeanor and the volume she's speaking in. I smirk subtlety to myself at the realization that Liz must get this a lot from her classmates, this isn't the first time I've seen them go to her seeking anything between information to comfort to protection. My smirk doesn't last long as I catch the sound of snickering drawing my attention to Avery and a guy from the Baseball team, I think his name's Erik. She holds her pointer finger over her lips as she looks back at Liz and her friend. I look back and forth and see Avery eye liz's classmates ass before making a slow approach, realling her arm back before she swings and makes direct contact with the poor girl's ass before she drags her hand up and rests her chin on her shoulder with a cocky smile. The girl jolts forwards from the impact and drops her books everywhere.
"You free later?" Avery asks in an arrogant flirtatious manner.
"Sam, I am so sorry," Liz blurts out as she grabs the girl's hand and pulls her behind herself in a protective manner.
Liz crouches down to start picking up Sam's papers and books, handing them to her before glancing at Avery. Avery is leaning forward with her hands deep in her pockets.
"Why do you always ruin my fun?" Avery dumbly asks.
Liz looks back at the ground and hands Sam her last paper. If I wasn't watching the whole thing I wouldn't have believed it ever happened except for the red mark that I'm almost guaranteeing is across Avery's cheek. Liz backhanded her with her full weight. Liz is now at her full height as she glares dagger at Avery who is just standing there stunned with a hand over her cheek.
"What the hell is wrong with you!" Liz yells, stepping closer to Avery who just stands at full height to avoid her. "Oh no you don't, you want to crouch down to talk to me like a child then get down here I want to make sure you hear me!" Liz seethes as she grabs a tight hold on Avery's hoodie strings and pulls her down to meet her face to face. "Don't you ever fucking touch another woman again with out their consent, do you hear me!" Avery just stares wide eyed at her. "I asked if you heard me Avery! Where in that thick skull of yours thought it was appropriate to do that!" Liz pushes Avery back a little before pounding a fist against her chest. "You are acting like a total jackass, why did I ever see something in you!" Liz hits Avery again, and it occurs to me that I don't think I have ever seen Liz so angry. "Greizgruzefix! Warum bist du so ein hüresohn auf einmal!
