Liz's POV
There's something just so liberating about feeling genuinely happy. I almost feel invincible, but not in the physical sense just like there's nothing that can ruin this feeling of content.
I'm holding Avery's hand as she walks me to psychology. It's my second to last class and she came looking for me after math just to walk me. She has been acting quite foolish since Monday and it's only Thursday. I look up at her as we walk, she is looking away at something down the hall. I smile dumbly just swinging our arms lamely before resting my head on her shoulder. I don't think it's exactly school news yet that she asked to date me, but it's a small school so I'm sure they have figured out that something has happened over the weekend.
As we get close to my classroom I feel my arm get tugged and turn noticing Avery stopped walking and is pulling me back to her. I walk up in front of her and look up at her.
"Is this what it feels like to look up at a skyscraper?" I joke.
"Funny." She rolls her eyes with a ghost of a smile on her lips.
"Are you gonna tell me what we're going to be doing on our date tomorrow?" I inquire with hopeful eyes.
She just silently shakes her head with a sly smirk on her face leaning forward towards my face, I turn my head slightly looking down her face to her lips before I watch them smile wide revealing her teeth as she leans over towards my ear instead of leaving me a kiss.
"No matter how many times you ask, I'll never break," She whispers to me before leaning back after leaving a chaste kiss on my cheek.
Standing at full height I look up at her and shake my head at her antics. "I don't like you being so tall," I admit.
"Really?" She muses.
"Yes," I pout.
"Sullivan! Perfect, can you assist me with something?" I hear Mr. Moore say, my psychology teacher.
"Umm, okay," Avery looks from me to him before shrugging and following me into class, but stays up by the board in the front.
She stands there awkwardly and I have to stifle a giggle at the look on her face as she squints to read a poster that's on the wall next to her. Once Mr. Moore walks in, the rest of the class takes their seats as the bell rings except for Avery who just stands in the front of the class. She keeps her hands in her pockets and her hood is hanging halfway on her head. A few people are watching her, which she notices as she glances out at the room and shifts her weight uncomfortably.
"Okay class, we will be looking at the expressions and how quick emotions change in a person. Sullivan, you were the one to cut down all those trees behind the school, it only makes sense with teeth like those," He starts abruptly.
Avery snaps her head in his direction with pure confusion, "Excuse me?"
"Avery, you're a real life Lurch's with the brains to match," Someone says, catching her attention.
Her face contorts from confusion to bafflement.
"Eh yo Sully, coach wants to know how you go through so many knee pads in a week if you're mostly on the bench?"
"You know what you and a daddy long legs spider have in common? You're just legs, and all talk but no bite." I snicker at that one, but she didn't even sport a smirk.
"Aves lucky for you feet size doesn't equate to your meat size, otherwise you would be a special at arbys," I giggle as I joke, but all I get back from her is a blank stare.
"How does it feel being Great Value Bruce Banner?"
"Sully I'd ask you to spell 'because' but I don't think we have enough time in this class period." I let a giggle out.
