Liz's POV
After a very convincing argument I talked my mom into loaning me the car leading me to having Danny in the back seat and Leo in the passenger as I make my way towards Spencer's house. According to Marisa, she already left with Mateo and her dad and should almost be at the arena. Avery told her that her game isn't until 11 so I have just over 2 hours to get there in time. I pull up to Spencer's house and observe the house for a moment before turning off the car.
It's a simple two story house with a garage, but the part that catches my attention is first Spencer's car along the side of the house with a car cover over it. She treats that thing as if it's her own baby. I see a lacrosse goal net set up in the front yard but with a sheet with holes cut into it for practice. A girl who at first I thought was Spencer stands with a stick and small pile of lacrosse balls, she repeatedly shoots at the net and proves to have more accuracy than I anticipated. She doesn't hesitate to throw another one. I look over and see a girl in jean shorts and long blonde hair watching with a bored look as she watches the other practice in the front yard.
I get out of the car and head towards the front when I hear someone's voice startle me from the open garage door.
"Can I help you?" A man with dark hair and a polo asks me.
"I'm here looking for Spencer, she's coming with me to go see a friend play in a tournament," I explained politely.
"Ah, give me a second," He smiles at me and walks toward the two kids. "Hailee, Don't overextend your shoulder, you're putting more stress on your joints than you should. Let the stick work for you, just help guide it."
"Yes dad," Hailee clips before scooping another ball with ease.
"Dad, wasn't Hailee supposed to walk me to Alana's house?" The blonde asks with a condescending smile.
"You got two legs, use them," Hailee clips before throwing another ball from her stick, getting it to sink into the bottom corner.
"Why do you make it so hard to talk to you?" The blonde girl asks, she can't be any older than like 10.
He just sighs while rubbing his forehead. "Hailee, go get your sister please."
"Which one," She grumbles.
"Spencer," He huffs.
"I'll be back," Hailee chirps up and runs into the house.
"Clarissa sweetie you have grass in your hair," He kneels down and gently picks grass out her blonde curls.
"Daddy, who is this?" She points at me.
"My name is Elizabeth," I say gently. "Friend of your sister."
She just looks at me up and down. Soon a smile spreads as if in approval. "Are you Spencer's new girl?"
"Spencers new what?"
"Girl, you know she has a lot of them but they never last long. You're pretty I hope you last longer than the rest," She shrugs.
"Clarissa-" Her father starts to chastise when the front door opens with Hailee Spencer and Harley.
"I am not that kind of friend," I explained gently.
"What kind of friend?" Spencer asks.
"I asked if she was your new girl," Clarissa doesn't miss a beat.
"Ha you wish, Jester," Harley snarks from next to her. "Too bad she's taken."
"So rude," Spencer fakes being offended.
"Spencer, Hailee isn't paying attention to me," Clarissa pouts to her sister.
Spencer turns slowly to look at Hailee who is just behind her. Now seeing them together you can see the resemblance clear as day, Hailee is like a miny Spencer. With the hair and the clothes, even her eyes are the same. Hailee pouts but doesn't argue when Spencer tells her to be nicer to her sister. Hailee just grumbles something and walks back over to where she was and starts shooting again.
