"Nothing burns like the cold."

THE SCREAMS OF CIVILIANS AROSE as robots flew throughout the air. Lucy stared up at the sky, momentarily dumbfounded by the fact she was fighting androids, before ducking as a robot dropped in front of her, a blue beam blasting at her face. The beam traveled past her and towards a child who was too terrified to do anything. She turned, lunging forwards with her hand outstretched. A shield of white wisps circled the boy before he could be burned.

The boy trembled as a witness—an adult—grasped his hand. They started to run together and Lucy turned her attention away as the robot threw itself at her.

She let the robot wrap it's metal arm around her neck, and watched with satisfaction as it's limb completely deteriorated. The rest of the robot dropped into a pile of silvery powder. Lucy ducked as Steve threw his shield straight at her, destroying another android behind her. She shot him a look, rolling her eyes as she caught the shield, tossing it back to him.

He saluted her and Lucy huffed as he decapitated a silver bot.

She started towards him, snapping her hand to the side as a robot pooled into nothing but water, splashing against the pavement.

She stood besides Steve as he caught his shield, releasing a breath.

"I wonder if you enjoy trying to decapitate me." She remarked with a roll of her eyes.

Steve quirked an eyebrow, his amused expression dropping as he moved to swing his shield. The robot behind her disintegrated, staring at Steve with a small tilt of his head.

"You can do that?" Steve gaped, before giving her a pointed look. "And for the record, I don't."

She elbowed him lightly and he yelped as another barrage of robots started towards them. They were congregating in seemingly random areas across the city—Lucy could see them unfurling across the sky in all directions. She needed to catch their attention, lead them towards her then dispose of them.

But the problem was the sheer number of civilians.

She narrowed her eyes as a robot landed in front of her. She moved to destroy it but the robot didn't raise a hand to fight her. She shifted on her feet as she heard Steve decapitate another android.

"You know what is best, Ver." The robot started in Ultron's voice.

Lucy cocked her head to the side.
