"Deal with the devil if the devil has constituency—and don't complain about the heat."???, Sokovia
September, 2015LUCY FELT THE BURNING PAIN of her wounds as she guided civilians towards the safest building nearby. It was an odd, pulsating feeling that shot through her arm and ears. She found it off that she wasn't bleeding from her nose or throwing up blood like she usually did whenever she was nearing her limit. Perhaps she'd been hit by a sound wave and she hadn't noticed. Whatever it was made her ears ache as if someone had pierced her eardrums, and she actually knew how that felt, so she supposed she should've been slightly worried. She could feel the exhaustion threatening to overtake her adrenaline.
She grimaced.
Being triggered wasn't usually a great sign, but at least she had assumed Tony Stark was her handler, and no one else. Because that meant she had some situational awareness, and hadn't gone bounding over to Ultron. Still, she was disappointed in herself for being affected by Henry's voice when he wasn't even physically there.
It was a headache and a terrible mind game that she could only attempt to ignore.
"What do you have Stark?" Steve questioned over comms.
Lucy ushered the woman to the safest corner of the room. She clutched her baby into her torso and Lucy turned to leave her when she reached forwards and grasped her hand. She winced, coming to a pause as she looked back at the older lady. She grabbed a handkerchief from her pocket, holding it out towards Lucy's arm.
The cut on her arm hadn't healed at all, her body too consumed with trying to simply keep her heart running. She'd overused her abilities and her biology could no longer fight the bacteria traveling into the bloody wound.
Lucy stared at the woman, before slowly lowering in front of her. The lady handed her baby towards her and Lucy clutched the child to her chest with one hand. The woman started to tie the handkerchief tightly around her arm. Once she was finished, Lucy handed her child back to her arms.
"Хвала вам."
Thank you.
Lucy mumbled shyly.
The older woman looked slightly surprised, before smiling with a small nod of encouragement.
Lucy shifted back onto her feet and started towards the exit.
"Huh? Nothing great. Maybe a way to blow up the city." Tony admitted. "That'll keep it from impacting the surface if you guys can get clear."
