"Helping one person might not change the whole world, but it could change the world for one person."Bucharest, Romania
March, 2016"JAMES!" LUCY YELLED AS SHE pulled her head out of their meager fridge. "We're out of plums again!"
It had been nearly a month since she'd found a place in Bucharest with James. They'd both surfed the web for european homes and were satisfied with a small, almost abandoned apartment placed in a terrible neighborhood with a not too dense population. It was completely and utterly unsafe to live in–if you weren't two heavily skilled assassins, of course.
And that wasn't exactly the case for the pair.
So living in such a dangerous neighborhood was a decision they'd made in order to help themselves, rather than hurt. Since the streets were unsafe at night, they were usually empty. Which meant if HYDRA ever found their home–safehouse, she supposed–there wouldn't be as many innocent citizens being hurt. Of course, assuming they would infiltrate the apartment at night. If not, at least there weren't as many upstanding citizens living in the area.
The town was littered with crime.
She kept her head turned, waiting as the bathroom door opened, wisps of smoke escaping the room as James stepped out of the shower with his hair soaking wet, towel secured around his hips. Her cheeks flushed as her eyes strayed from his face, before returning to the pursed pout of his lips.
He looked as though she'd announced the closing of every fast food company on the planet, eyebrows wilting as his eyes nearly watered. He huffed, shaking his head sadly.
"They keep running away, I'm tellin' ya." He remarked forlornly.
Lucy bit the inside of her lip to stop the laugh attempting to escape her lips.
She shut the fridge door, spinning on her heel. She crossed her arms over her chest as she raised an eyebrow at him. She could see how much focus he was putting in not, also, doubling over in laughter.
"And where, pray tell, are they running to, exactly?" She questioned accusingly.
James frowned, tapping his chin thoughtfully. His temple creased as if he was genuinely attempting to give her a good explanation. She leaned against the fridge, enjoying his antics as a lightbulb seemed to go off above him.
He beamed at her as he patted his stomach.
"Right here." He said, before waving his hands in surrender. "I swear they just jump out of the fridge in the middle of the night and I just kind of roll over and they're just there. Waiting–"
