"Everybody wants a happy ending, right? But it doesn't always roll that way."New York
June, 2023LUCY LOOKED TO HER LEFT and right, surprise littering her features. The amount of portals opening were enormous and glittering with intense magic. She found herself awed by Doctor Strange's capabilities. She glanced at James as he lifted his rifle, letting it lean against his shoulder. Lucy activated her abilities, white wisps darting across her fingertips.
She couldn't help the excited buzz in her ears.
Fighting with her abilities was difficult, especially when she always had to be so careful with how much power she used. But with the amount of grotesque aliens standing in their way, hundreds if not thousands of creatures, Lucy didn't need to keep her abilities under wraps.
"Welcome to the new century I guess." James said with a small grimace.
Lucy glanced at him, raising an eyebrow.
James looked back at her.
She nodded her head towards a faint figure in front of them.
James squinted, before his eyes widened with surprise.
Steve stood with a broken shield, still standing. He scanned the crowds of people, and the pair watched as their best friend huffed, relief flashing across his eyes. He was prepared to let himself die in order to protect the planet.
All alone. Without people from his time.
Steve turned his eyes towards the giant purple alien wearing silver armor.
It was quiet.
"Avengers," Steve breathed deeply, holding his hand out to grab Mjolnir, "assemble."
Lucy decided not to question when he obtained Thor's hammer, nor why Thor was now holding a giant ax.
The others started marching forwards, the troops of Wakanda and the Dora Milaje letting out war cries. It was impressive, and the pair probably should've marched right along with them. Instead James backed up slightly, giving Lucy a little wink. She huffed, shaking his head at him and his antics.
Molecules rippled in the air, before James lunged forwards. She gave him an extra boost, watching as he gained a distance advantage, running besides T'Challa. She took a step forwards as more people darted forwards besides her. She came to a stop, flexing her hands.
